any on tell me how to tell if my cooler is bad? or if I have other problems. I the last 4 mo. I have put 4 egrs in my truck all the #1egr today got same code again out of calibration and short in #1. this is getting old. someone told me the cooler may be bad.The fan is not turning on unless engine gets around 210. The shop never said anything about the cooler being bad. don't know much about egr engines but missing my old 425 cat

If you're cooler is bad it usually leaks and you're definately not going to miss the leak that's for sure cuz it's going to start eating coolant without any outside leaks. I have yet to see a d12 cooler be plugged but take the main pipe off that goes in the intake and see how the flow is when the egr are open also with vcads check you're egr temperature it should be close to you're coolant temp give a few degrees also last but not least make sure when the egr is unplugged and plugged in the batteries have to be disconnected also make sure you're ecm is updated with the latest software there has been a few updates to make the egrs cycle more that way they don't get stuck or the motors don't go bad also check how you're back pressure is on you're exhaust maybe the EPg cylinder is stuck and putting extra back pressure on you're exhaust let me know if anything other codes come up.

The ved 12 engines are one of the worst volvo ever concieved. As long as you have that engine, plan on multiple egr and injector cup problems.

I think he's talking about the front air to air inner cooler that sits in front of the radiator. I have heard if there is a leak in the front cooler your EGR valve, will throw a code.

Have the front intercooler pressure tested to make sure.
