Does anyone have any information about USA Truck? They are sponsoring me to get my cdl at Great Southern Driving Academy here in GA. So far it sounds good. Has ANYONE out there worked for USA??

Yes, I currently work for USA Truck. Not a bad company to work for starting out as a new driver. The pay is decent, and if you don't mind running your ### off, they will give you all the miles you can handle. I have been here now 7 months, and have never had a problem hitting 3000+ miles weekly. The experience is different for different drivers, some don't like it, some do. Raises are always on time, they do try their hardest to get you home when you request to, but not always guaranteed to be home on the day you wanted.
Only warning I can give you, is we have a few worthless trainers. If you find out when you get on your trainer's truck that he isnt teaching you what you think you need to know, call your training coordinator and asked to be put on a different trainer truck. You need to drive 175 hours in 1 month to get into orientation, so make sure you are driving at least 7 hours a day, every day. If you have any problems with your trainer, call your coordinator and they will get you on a different truck.
Other than that, good luck to you. If you have any questions, post them in here, and I will try to answer as best I can.venne Thanks this. -
I never heard of that company before. Are they hiring cdl school graduates in south georgia?

Thanx for the reply Blues Dad...
I really appreciate the info you gave. Yeah, I'm not worried about having to be gone for weeks at a time, or any of that, single with no kids, so I can handle that. My only and biggest worry is about the whole training situation. Could you elaborate on that a bit? What's it like with a trainer, provided I get a good one. Am I with a trainer BEFORE i go to orientation? Are there bouble bunks? Are you national or dedicated? I know these are crazy questions, but where do u pull off to after your 10 hrs of driving? Rest stop? And my other concern are SHOWERS!! Are most of them clean? lol
Look forward 2 hearing back from you -
I think the training pay was better ($350 / week) than after I became a first seater. I did six months, but they won't pay Ohio, Indiana turnpike tolls. One time a logging supervisor bugged me about a forty minute discrepancy on a fueling time.
A guy I met when a Swift truck was rolled over in Ohio on I-70. My truck 7474, had to tap the brakes to get speed control to work.

A piccy of me same place, while there, bumped the tires and found trailet accident damage, trailer had to be unloaded on another that night, all cargo was on floor not pallets, (mechanics at Tipp City, OH) did that. 4,000 bid heavy boxes by hand.

The Swift tractor pretty bad, I called Swift that night, and told them the winds were treacherous that time. They said even though driver was life flighted out, he was OK.
One more my trainer Henry

Good Times but after Josh, my dispanuevo Laredo, but I don't want to get 'banned'tcher quit, got petty rough, no west Coast or Laredo, I have Pictures of Neuavo Laredo, Mexico- ask around - see what drivers say about that.

I have been trying to get to orintation since April 02,2009 and keep getting put back because they say that they don't have any Trucks available. I already have my CDL. What I am worried about with the economy like it is, and so many places shutting down will I get enough miles to be worth my time. I have not worked for several months so I really need to work. I was also offered a driving position with Prime, but the training is much longer(60k with a trainer) and I am not to keen on that. Does anyone know anything about the company and how honest they are? Sorry to be asking so many questions, but I am just trying to make sure the decision I make is benifitual to me and my family.

Of those 2...I would go with Prime.

the only DUMB queation isa the one unasked! go with prime. they will be AS GOOD as USA or better. IMO
-
Do u get paid for empty miles?
