    Holy cow you are so coherent loved reading your post you rock so sane thats what we need in WA a little been there done that. Like you get to drop at 8pm and the gate dod'n open till 0100 for your 0130 delivery you gotta sneak around the corner. You gonna reschedule dodnt think so.

    New Hours of Service = only a couple of things are new, what's the big deal? (besides the fact that it does nothing to increase our pay, but should not affect more than 5% less while adjusting work habits)

    I noticed you said 34 hr reset (home terminal time) in talking to a few recruiters they said you wouldn't have to take that 34 reset at your home terminal. I interpreted the new rule as you did. Are the trucking companies in denial over the reset provisions or am I wrong in thinking my 34 would have to be at my home terminal?

    home terminal time,as in the time zone that your home terminal is physically located in and the time you should be using for your logs regardless of the timezone that you are currently in.

    All logs are to be filled out using your home terminal time zone. The reset is no different. You don't have to take the reset AT your home terminal.

    But what I guess he is asking is if you have to do 2 breaks between 1 and 5 and your company is out of California and you are on the east coast it's going to jack up your delivery or picking up times. This is what I hate about doing the log recaps because my company is on mountain time and I'm out east and I have to wait until midnight mountain time to get hours and its already 2am Eastern time. So truly going to add more headache to this job. I don't believe its worth it. So guess I better start looking for something local or regional.

    Would working strictly mon 1:30am until fri 10:00pm only, make a difference? what about Sun 11 am to Fri 1pm?

    I'm wondering about the "behind the wheel" rule. It used to be, that if you were behind the wheel, even if you where at a rest area, then it was counting against your total daily hours, that in order to be able to log it as "off duty" then you had to go into the bunk or exit the truck. Now they're saying that you can count being behind the wheel as "off duty" as long as your not driving (I think I read that right). If I did read that right, does that mean if I'm sitting at a dock for 3 hours waiting to be unloaded that I don't have to count that against my total daily hours? I assume that it still is logged as "on duty not driving". What do you all think?

    If you're not doing the loading, it's safe to be on line one or two. Only on duty if you have to load your own trailer.

    I don't think the new HOS rules will affect trucking too much. You have to have two consecutive 1AM-5AM periods in a 34. You can shut down Saturday at 2000 and your break will be complete on Monday at 0800.
