I normally don't do business with CH Robinson, but this time they actually offred a decent rate. Delivery from PA to NYC. I should've known better.

This was a "critical delivery" deal. I couldn't be late for any reason. The commodity? Hand soap for one of the offices in NYC. The load was no touch. I arrived 30 minutes before my appointment, double parked on the street (no other choice) and started calling the receiver and the broker to get unloaded. There were 3 pallets with about 50 small boxes in my 53 ft trailer.

To my surprise, the receiver said this was an "inside delivery" load. This meant I had to go to the 12th floor to deliver. I had no equipment (dolly etc) and I couldn't leave the truck in the middle of the street, so I told CHR that someone would have to come down and get the merchandise. They couldn't find anyone to do so. I was sitting there from 2 pm to 5 pm, while nobody could unload 3 pallets.

Finally, the broker told me that I would have to deliver the load to Jamaica, NY. This was 26 miles away in heavy NY traffic. The broker assured me that I would be compensated. It took 2 hours to get to the delivery location, then I was asked to shrink wrap the pallets because the boxes on them were lose. Broker kept telling me that I would get my rate confirmation "any time now".

I called the broker next day (still no rate confirm) and was told that I'll be reimbursed $100. This is for 2 hours detention and 2 hours driving through NYC smack durig rush hour. I told her that I wanted to talk to the supervisor, who wouldn't let me put in a word edgewise. He said that a mile is a mile, wether in NYC or in Montana and I was apparently supposed to be paid 41c/mile. I really don't know where he got this figure. I'm an owner operator with my own equipment and my own authority.

I know that I shouldn't have moved the truck until I got real change of destination confirmation from these people, but the broker sounded very sincere, so I trusted her. This is really the last load I do for CHR.

"Critical delivery" for hand soap? NYC on top of it? That load had trash written all over it.

I had a ch robinson broker disp a load from a town below Atlanta ga. when I was sitting in Jacksonville fl. that was to deliver in Nashville tn. the next morning, when I asked him to move back the delivery ? the broker quickly called my company owner thinking he was going to snitch on me then called me back asking me to lie on the logbook for an extra $100.00 bucks. problem is, the Manchester tn. DOT scale was in route and I had computer logs. This dude was trying to set me up and get me busted on false logs ! so beware of ch Roberson and who is dispatching you because there is money under the table going on and your going to take the fall if you get put oos.
