ROFL....he knows. Rebel is a beautiful black Lab, and were so glad we can finally take him on the road with us. Im a little concerned about the CSA score of the company. Think we need to be worried???

Do not be surprised when DOT checks you out often.
-
Its a pain when that does happen (hate to stop when youre rollin and got some miles to put behind you) but we never worry about that. There are just some things that we wont do....drive illegal??? Nope. If the truck wont pass our pretrip then we wont roll it on down the road. Schneider always insisted on a 30 minute PTI, and thats what we're used to and thats what we do. As a school bus driver, in a past life, I got used to doing a "run around", and old habits died hard, but Ive relearned "thorough".

I just looked at the CSA report. If you look at the list of violations, out of 117 total over 40 were for speeding, totally on the driver, many were for not wearing a seatbelt, again on the driver, and various others for lane restriction violations and one for using a hand held cell phone. I even saw one for having an unauthorized passenger in a CMV. I know they don't charge for passengers so that driver was an idiot for not getting it authorized. Anyway, that category totally reflects on the actions of the DRIVER and not the company. It will, however, give the company a "reputation" with DOT officers.
I once got pulled over by a DOT officer who had to make a u turn to come get me. I asked why he pulled me over and his answer was "Your company has a high CSA score in unsafe driving so we're keeping an eye on them." Point there, they do watch the CSA scores. Hope this helped.
FYI, after much research, I've decided to go to work for Big M myself. I've talked to several drivers and they all had good things to say. Hope to meet you and Rebel one day! Drive safe and God Bless! -
Well, welcome to the company, I started with them the first of March and they are a very standup company compared to the way my last company treated drivers. For example, I went home on March 27th and was supposed to come back out on the 29th but I got hit with a Kidney Stone on the 28th causing me to have to stay home until the 4th of April. They were completely understanding and just told me to take it easy and let them know when I was ready to roll and that they would only come pick up my truck as a last resort which did not happen. They keep me running as much as I want to. Hope it works out as well for you as it has me so far.

im thinking of applying with big m. I see they run a lot of northeast,do they run nyc?
-
I was offered a position with Big M just the other day. I happily excepted hoping to clear my memory of the horrible situation a was basically forced to take part of fresh out of training.(Western Express). I can't wait to get to Tupelo on next Tuesday for orientation. Can't Wait!
-
Can you or anyone tell me how the Orientation process goes, like what is the 1st day like? And now that you've been driving a while with them, do you still like it? Have you been getting many DOT inspections? And do you get to go outside of the Northeast often? I know it's a lot of questions, but I'm thinking about working for them and want to get a good feel for what it'll be like.Last edited: Nov 1, 2013

Hello Girltrucker, I'm curious now after 10 months or so with Big M, have you dealt with many DOT inspections?
