Did you ever consider that Sara made a mistake and quoted the van pay rate by accident? I'm sure she deals with more recruits than just your son-in-law, and probably 90%+ of those are looking at van, so she's probably used to stating that particular rate. Common sense sometimes doesn't sink in I guess.

I start Bulk Orientation on Jun 12th in Pittsburgh, 24 days. Any advice/Pointers ect ect? thanks
-
Schneider Bulk was my first driving job. Ran out of Channahon, Chicago and Gary...I ran regional, started at .28 per mile, usually grossed 600-800 a week. They ran me to death, but I was a runner and I loved it. Moved on to another bulk carrier as an O/O made some big bucks. Schneider is great!!!! You guys are on to a good thing, enjoy it and have fun.

The cory instructors are tough but very good at what they do. Just listen and dont expect much because there is not much to Cory. Maybe I will see you there, good luck.Sillen Thanks this.
-
Thanks, but what is a "cory"? I think I missed something.
-
Coraopolis, PA. Just outside of Pittsburgh. The Operating Center you are going to. Everyone calls it Cory.
-
In cory on Orientation now. They are pretty cool guys.
-
i had a great time training at Cory. I'm assuming you're there for new driver training as I'm pretty sure the experienced drivers go to Gary for orientation.
If they're still using the extended stay hotel, I doubt you'll have any complaints. The rooms are clean and comfy and if you like to cook, theres a stove, dishwasher and full size fridge. Plenty of shopping and dining within walking distance of the hotel, but if you bring your car it's that much easier.
Some guys would get down if they had a bad day driving, it happens and you just have to remember that schneider has a lot of money invested in you and would much rather see you succeed than give up. Pay attention in class and pass the tests. They're easy tests, but it's all about what you were taught in the classroom, not just common sense answers like a driving test. good luck and have a great time! -
Another great thing about Cory is that its hard to drive out there. Steep hills and turns and really tight roads. Point is once you pass all the road test you know you can drive anywhere. Also the best instructors are out there.

comes in handy for sure, ethos .. Like some of the WV truck stops with the steep uphill exits. Where big blue vans are rolling backward and stalling, and you just kinda creep on out with 45k of liquid sloshing around without a care in the world ...
But, then there's always those trips to NJ/NYC to keep one grounded !
