The 21st-23rd of this week KW held a Dealer/Customer meeting at their Chillicothe Ohio plant specific to Glider Kits. Paccar is still producing Gliders on both sides of the fence (KW and Pete)
Cat sdp Thanks this. -
I wonder what they discussed ? -
Dont tell them I told you,but it was about how money they could make.

I heard same thing, then this is what i was told at Peterbilt.
Paccar earlier this year sent out some type of memo about how the wire harnesses on the gliders were going be changing in the future. Well I was told the wording on this memo was so poor that it needed to be interpreted a bit as to what they were realy talking about. Apparently some got the idea from this memo that anything pre 07 emissions was not going to be compatable with new wiring harneses on a Paccar glider. This got a lot of people pretty nervous I guess.
Real story is glider business is booming, Paccar is selling a ton of them and has no plans on stopping. The wire harness will accept something as old as 40 pin Cat ecm, so no worries on that end.
Lead time is pretty short now also. I was told 4-6 weeks and they have seen some in as few as 3 weeks.Cat sdp Thanks this. -
That's what my dealer told me today as well. I hope he was right as I am trying to piece a glider together in the near future.

Exactly correct. I ordered one a year before I was planning to because of the misinformation on the wiring... glider business is BOOMING.

It's just the 2013 that aren't available for order anymore, but there are a few recently built ones popping up on the truck paper web site . The 2014s are wired for 2004+ emissions engines. 2013s were 1998+ emissions. If you don't want EGR (really the whole point of a glider) try to find a 2013.

NOT TRUE!!!

I don't see why they would stop. Then other companies, freightliner, would get all the orders. What do they care if the EPA later says you cannot run them? Paccar won't be left holding that bag, the people who buy them will. Not sure you can finance a glider either ... so really they have nothing to lose by continuing production. If I was in the market for another (new) truck I would look into getting one.
