You're Lucky I went to a school Further up north in West Palm Beach and the course is 160 hours and no where near close to 1200-1600 miles of driving on the road

I'm assuming when you stepped in the truck you didn't have much issues with all that training ?

Thanks! I'm so excited to start class. I heard it was a great program, and clearly you were able to find employment fairly quickly. I hope to have the same luck.

Question about Werner, since you went to CDL school before you joined the company, did you need to do any extra training with them? Or did you just do orientation and jump to trainer?

I can answer that since I drove for them.Once you get your cdl you start werner go to orientation. They put you up in a motel and you wait for a trainer.More then likely the trainer will call you and tell you when hes going to be in town.

I went through orientation in Atlanta. They told us we get one week of paid home time during training. On Thursday, four weeks out, I contacted my SDM about setting it up. He comes back and tells me Werner stopped doing paid home time over a year ago. The handbook, is outdated and inaccurate.

In order to get home now, you have to take an unpaid leave of absence (up to 30 days) AND front the bus ticket. Which you are only reimbursed for if you return in 7 days. Yes, you STILL forfeit your $500 bonus...

I am on the longer end of that 6-8 weeks. My trainer, is on a shorter dedicated run. We run Atlanta, GA - Miami, FL Mon-Thur. We will make a short run on Friday, I am in a hotel from Friday to Monday evening. I've been on his truck since 24-APR and still have ~130 hours to go. I stay on because we get along well, and I don't want to risk getting off of his truck for some goober. Although, this should be my last week with him because I need a DG trainer.

hey tonakis, u need to get some backing in for sure. See if the trainer will let u practice at the rear of a ts parking lot during the day when there are only a few trucks around. Glad you are doing well though.

Yup, not a whole lot. Still missing gears every now and then but getting better all the time. I drive very safely (don't necessarily think slow) - keep bog following distance and start slowong down way in advance of traffic - both in town and on the highway.

Which school is that, the one by the Turnpike in West Palm? We drove by it with the trucks while in school ;-)

Who is your teacher at the school?

After orientation you go with a trainer. With Werner you have to complete 275 hours of driving.
