we have a pete 379 in the fleet that ways just as much as my freightliner Century. He's got a cat, no apu and 63" bunk. I've got a Detroit S60 with apu and condo. Same transmissions.

I have aluminum hubs, not sure what he has. I know my frame is lighter and that his cab is aluminum and mine is steel.

    Both around 17-18K pounds.

Thanks again. Your replies are much appreciated.
MNdriver, your post got me thinking and i was mistaken earlier when i said i had 3 tractors.....i forgot about my old faithful '84 W900b. which has been semi-retired. The others are a '95 W.star( which has been the one i have driven since purchased in '99, and has been an awesome work horse), and 2 Freightliner Columbia's, '04 and '05. I had my doubts about the Columbia's, but the price was right for the pair. I have to say i have been very happy with them so far, and the drivers love the big, roomy cabs, and the ride comfort.
I do have 1 more in the stable, but it has yet to be put to work because i want to do some work to it. It's an '84 GMC Astro purchased several years ago from the local high school tech. center that was used for student driver training. It went up for auction and i wanted it because it was the truck i drove when i was there, and took my drivers test with it. Mechanicaly it's mint, but the cab interior is a bit rough, so i want to fix that, plus stretch it and give her a nice coat of paint. I think it will be a real head turner going down the road.
Anyway, sorry to get off subject, and thanks agian to all who have replied and thanks in advance for those to come.

I stand corrected. I based it off of a comment from someone else.

Only western stars and volvos have iron cabs. The top section on a Volvo is fibreglass. Pretty sure all other modern trucks within the past 10-15 years are aluminum maybe with some fibreglass in the mix.
