Since I know you'll never read anything from my thread, I'll just summarize it. The only person I dislike at boyd is my dispatcher. The people in the corporate office never helped me to get a new one. They could care less that she was abusing her position. They never cared when I put in my notice and never cared when my dispatcher sent me straight to birmingham the next day, cutting my notice short. These are all signs of a bad trucking company. Even when I first started in 2003 at werner, there were people you could call if you were being mistreated. Not to mention if you put in your notice with any company they do their best to let you work it out. Not boyd. I liked everyone I ever met at boyd from terminal managers to shop personnel and drivers... except my dispatcher... I didnt care for david too much either (orientation). The terminal manager of Cincinnati even called my dispatcher to try to defend me when she was pulling some bs. But it didn't help. They even held my last paycheck for a week and then mailed it instead of direct deposit. I was just surprised at how they treated their drivers from what I saw. I've only heard of things like this happening at bad companies. And I've worked for 5 companies and every one of them wanted to know why I was putting in notice. Except boyd. They all let me work out my notice down to the last day except boyd. They all let me leave home when i wanted as long as i deliver ontime except boyd. When i had a death in the family, boyd turned me right around and got me a swap to get home. See, its not all bad

    Freckles Thanks this.

Its under the section about "avoiding a service failure" of course you will never admit you found it now. My dispatcher enforced every trivial thing she found in the handbook. I never said yours did. Maybe if I had your amazing dispatcher I would still be there. Calm down.

Here is a message from my dispatcher on the peoplenet:

" I am very disappointed to see that you left home late with this load after just having come off a long weekend off. Regardless of the fact that the cons has open rec we expect you to be there by midnight tonight so you could have a fresh 10 driving hrs when you unload in the morning. this has to improve."

Notice she said it had to be there by midnight even though the consignee has open receiving!

    Here's another:

"New company policy - if you leave home late for your Monday delivery (and show up on the shift report if you do because betty jo has called you or tried to call you to find out why you haven't left) then I cannot pay you any layover or detention pay for the rest of the week. We try to get you to leave out in time to be at your consignee by midnight for two reasons, your safety and your logbook! As the country moves toward elogs on every driver this is more important than ever, believe me I know, I have drivers on elogs already that i have had to forfeit long loads on monday already because they left out late and used up their monday driving hours trying to get their loads delivered. Those of you that always leave out in plenty of time thank you!!! I appreciate it and so does the company. We do all we can to make sure you get the amount of time youre due on the w/e all we ask in return is that you leave on time with your load. thanks."

I also took pictures of the peoplenet with these messages on it because I knew someone wouldn't believe this ridiculous crap she was doing.

After that second message she started keeping me out on the weekends if I didn't ARRIVE at the consignee by midnight sunday regardless of any circumstances. If I had to park on the street, so be it. I was also running paper logs so she knew I could put that I got there whenever I wanted. I never refused a load she gave me even if I didn't have the hours I would make it happen with my log book. And before you call me a liar again, since I had 8 years experience they gave me one of the last older trucks that didn't have elogging in it yet and they gave all the new drivers elogs. Thats why she mentioned that in the second message.

By the way that second message was sent to every driver on her board so it will be hard to deny that one since you have probably met some of the drivers that got that message already. Good Luck with Boyd. Hope you get to keep your wonderful dispatcher forever.

Idk what ure dispatcher's problem is dude. Ive been with boyd since july and never had any huge problems. Ive only been stuck out once, and i never got either of those messages. I have never been at the cons sunday night. Not a single time since ive been here. Although thinking about and reading some of ur posts mayve u r part of tge problem as well. As i said i have never had any problems with boyd. Except i was stuck out one weekend i didnt want to be, but they gave me an 1100 mile run to finish my week out good so i took it.

@flatbedsurface. And btw, if uve only been driving less than a year how r u gonna knock someone with more experience than u?? U shouldnt be knocking on anyone. Unless of course uve been driving a while and havent changed it here. In that case i apologize.

You wouldn't see those messages unless your dispatcher is Ruth B. out of Clayton. You should ask some drvers what they think of her. Like i mentioned before, I called the office and asked for a different dispatcher but they never got back with me or cared about anything I had to say. Even when I was at Werner as an entry level driver in 2003, I had to call and complain about one of my dispatchers and they immediately helped me out. Nobody at Boyd ever expressed any concern as to why I was putting in notice either. Those are just red flags that I think their prospective drivers should be aware of before they decide to go to boyd. I was well paid and my truck was well taken care of. I was just being used as stress relief by Ruth since I am so easy going and no one in the office would stick up for me. If Ruth is the only crappy FM at boyd then the odds are you will get a good one. Im not gonna lie about my experience just to fit in here. I heard Ruth got fired once for taking bribes from drivers to get good loads to them. She may be back at it again. I never offered her a penny for any good loads and when she kept me out I got about a 700 mile trip for Friday-Monday. I got better miles when I went home. She would also send me home with loads that delivered 400 miles from tge house along with a sarcastic message about leaving home early enough to be at cons by midnight sunday. Im just wondering if someone with a boyd handbook could read the section on avoiding service failures and check out the part about being at the consignee by midnight sunday when you go home with a load.

I will admit i was curious, it is in the handbook. However, it says "for a weekend dispatch" which leads me to believe that they may be talking about a load that picks up on the weekend. The reasoning is they want to ensure u have enough rest. But like i said, ive never been at the cons by midnight sunday.

And how hard exactly did u try to get a different dispatcher? And who did u talk to about it? That would make all the difference. If u just kind of mentioned it to the wrong person they could have blown u off and disregarded what u said. However if u would have bugged chris or maybe roger consistantly it might have made a difference.

And flatbed i will admit i did misunderstand, i went back and read more and im on track now. Lol.

A weekend dispatch means you're going home with a load instead of empty. You wont find many places you can pick up on a weekend. I cant remember which I talked to but i thing it was chris because he told me he would get roger to call me back and no one ever called me back. After several weeks of calling almost daily and getting blown off or completely ignored, I decided I was putting too much effort into a company that didn't care about me so I moved on. I do have a good friend right here in town that has worked for boyd for years and has a great dispatcher and loves it. I believe I got one of the only bad dispatchers there. If not the only bad one since I can't find one solitary person who had a similar experience. I still wouldn't go back though.
