I drove one for thirty minutes bobtailing. Did not like it. They roll back between stop and syart easily. Expensive for repairs. I hear they only have minor problems. Im going to assume that any retro fittings need notto be done. You migt screw thedarn thing directly to your mechanic.

Ive got an ultrashift in a 2012 Cascadia. There is an anti-rollback feature on these transmissions that's activated via the brake pedal. When at a stop on a hill with the foot brake depressed as usual, when youre ready to take off simply pump the pedal down once and the truck will hold itself in place for 3 seconds. This allows plenty of time to depress the accelerator and start moving without rolling backwards. I haul gasoline and diesel and gross 109kpounds all day and never have had a problem with rolling. The tranny is nice when in heavy stop and go traffic but deep down I do miss and prefer a manual.

Then there is the new Allison TC10 automatic. True automatic with as much or more efficiency as the auto/ultra shifts and less complication. Video comparing the Allison to the ultra.....

I prefer 13 speed manual myself. On the highway. But in traffic, an autoshift would be nice. And, unfortunately, I spend a lot of time in traffic.
