I just recently signed onto Warren Transport Machinery Division. I can say I have never been around more pleasent people in my life. They preach being and staying legal and they speak from the heart. Nothing like, "Drive Legal - Wink Wink" stuff at all. The equipment (trailers) are well kept and the freight seems to be available. They pull JD equip out of Waterloo and many other kinds of ag equipment from different parts of the country. Wide but not too heavy, not super or heavy haul is what I mean. Heavy enough though.

I'd like to hear from anyone familiair with Warren Transport, especially the machinery side.

If anyone is interested, they are actively looking for both van and machinery contractors. They have been around since 1949 so I figurre they must have a few things going for them.

Good, bad or otherwise, please share your experience. I'm not a recuriter, just a guy with a truck pullng step's and RGN's up and down I-35 just like many of you. I am however very positive about my experience so far and hopefully that will continue.

Be safe and Happy Trails!! :biggrin_25525:

Picked up my first load with Warren. Assorted parts and pieces of cement truck parts headed to Mexico via Laredo, TX. Not bad miles to start out with. Laredo provides alot of midwest and southeast bound freight.

It's my birthday so I'm at home enjoying time with the family before I head out Sunday morning.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! ;-)

    Hey Lucky Dog,

I just became a member here and wanted to hear how things were going for you with Warren. My dad drove for Warren for 22 years, most of that time on the machinery division but it has been a few years since he's worked for them and I assume things have changed quite a bit. Good luck to you and I will be interested to hear how things are going.

    Hey RKD,

"Things" have changed alot apparently. They (Warren) thinks nothing of having a O/O run deadhead 200, 300 and even 400 miles without even breaking a sweat to get another load. Just spent From Tuesday 7:30am to Friday morning 10am waiting for a load in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. I was offered two loads both that were terrible and finally I found my own load that they screwed up by asking the broker for more money after finding out the load was 10' wide but the load was hay and the permits are all free due to this type of freight being exempt. I finally threw my hands in the air and drove home (500+ miles) empty. Will probably not be there much longer with this kind of approach. And if I were the only one having this issue I would re-examine my ideals and change my ways to fit into the program. But this isn't the case at all. Nearly everyone I speak to has some sort of issue with this very same point, deadhead. The company has some real issues in siging contracts with brokers so the pool of possible reloads is extremely diminshed. Run a 1200 mile 2 stop load for $1200.00 and then run 300 or 400 miles of deadhead. Unfornately I'm not the United States Government so I can't run my business like they run the country as far as profit/loss goes. Nuf said........ Hope this sheds some light in areas many people may or may not have thought of.

Sorry to hear that Lucky Dog. I know that Warren was a decent company when my dad drove for them, but it sounds like things are a little different. How do the guys in the van division do? Is it the same thing... a lot of waiting and then eventually deadheading. It seems that Warren has primarily gone from a machinery/open deck company to a van company in the past few years.

Not being in the van division my data is limited. I can say that when I go to the Laredo terminal the van guys are routinely sitting down for 2, 3 or 4 days waiting for a load. And they aren't passing up freight waiting for a better load. I see some machinery guys do this but I wonder if some of them are just kisking back for R&R where it's warm. They sit around and chew the fat and some hardly leave the terminal. Kinda crazy if you ask me. If I were to stay in Laredo for any length of time I would do a little daytime shopping south of the border but get my butt back across long before dark. Really bad things are happing down there but not to US citizens atleast. Just a couple weeks ago they found more than a dozen people hanging from under a bridge and another dozen chopped up and dropped off just down from the police station. Bad Bad Bad~!!

Lucky Dog, you better be careful if you do any day trips south of the border. NOT a good place to be at right now. :biggrin_25513: Hopefully things will pick up for you here as we get closer to summer. I like the 377 you have in your profile picture, what kind of engine/trans etc do you got in the old girl?

No trips south of the border for me any time soon. Reading and hearing the local news in Laredo says nothing good about anything happening south of the border. Every day there are murders so horrible and in quanities, eg; 6 hanging from a bridge, 8 bodies chopped up, placed in boxes and dropped off at the police station front door. Yikes!! :biggrin_25524: Double yikes!!! :biggrin_2551: You don't hear about this anywhere out of the immediate area. Suppressed by the media and current administration I think.

Freight seems to be slowing down for Warren lately. Hardly a load going south nearly as much as just a couple weeks ago.

Maybe today will bring something good. It's still early yet...... Happy trails! :biggrin_25525:

The adventure has ended at Warren due to many different factors but mostly to enormous deadhead miles. Many are doing well but for what I wanted to do and where I wanted to run it didn't work out.

Best of luck to all Warren Machinery Division O/O's. :biggrin_25523:
