My bp was a hair over those numbers on my physical and I got a 1 year card. For the record, I am taking care of that and am on proper medication to bring it down.

WRONG . From my post on this thread #17 . BP can be up to 159/99 and get a 1 year card .

Yes , it needs to be 140/90 or less after that but how many newbies last a year ?

high bp runs in my family but with proper diet and excercise I'm hoping to avoid it. my doctor has mentioned it once or twice so I drop a few pounds and work out more and am all good but doing that while on the road could be a challenge I suppose

Sad - in the rest of the world there is no "pre hypertension", BP up to 140/90 is considered normal....

The good ol' US of A does that to prescribe billion$ in blood pressure pills, to millions of people who wouldn't ordinarily need them...

I started planning on entering the truck driving industry a few months back and will be attending a school next week. I had my BP checked a few months back and it was quite high, around 155/103. My doctor put me on a BP medication called Linosipril (spelling may be off a bit). The medication is very inexpensive, at Walmart it is $4 WITHOUT insurance.

    My $.02 on this subject.
