Gunny,
$700 a week is pretty easy to do, but it might take a few weeks or even a month or 3 for you to get in the groove of the job...you know, familiar with your equipment and tarping and such...also properly managing your time.
I'm not trying to get all technical or anything...but its those things that dictate how much money a driver makes as much, or even more than freight availability (both companies have freight)
Some drivers can "git-r-done"...and some can't...
The ones that can't (or won't) consistently work for it...are the ones that you hear saying they ain't making any money.
I'm not implying you are one of them (I don't know you)....just explaining that the money isn't as easy as some make it sound, it takes a little while to work up to it.
Good luck, my vote goes to Maverick...
Looking for some good helpful advice in Maverick

Ridge runner has a point you can't waist time tarping getting this down as well as securing your load has hurt slot of drivers. It's amazing but I've seen guys who say they are seasoned veterans struggle with simple tarp jobs. Time management is everything. This is where paying attention during training is critical. Everyone struggles sometimes just don't be hardheaded ask for help if you have to.
Gunny92 and Ridgerunner665 Thank this. -
Thanks Ridgerunner, really appreciate you replying. Take care out there.

Hey Ridgerunner, this is my last question for you and I will leave you alone. I noticed at the end of your post you put Maverick would be your vote. What sets Maverick apart from TMC in your opinion? The reason I ask is because I've been accepted by Maverick, but I just haven't locked down an orientation date yet because I wasn't sure whether TMC would be the better choice. Thanks again and sorry for bothering you.

While he answers ill put this in they are so close business wise it's a toss up. Whichever fits you the driver better.
Gunny92 Thanks this. -
I've never worked there (TMC), but a member of my family has.
Some of the little things he told me about made it clear to me that I could never work there...also, they require a passport and Canada...I don't do Canada, or any other country...that may or may not matter to you though.
You're not bothering me...I'm just sitting here watching Burn Notice on Netflix, and keeping an eye on some bad weather south of me.Gunny92 Thanks this. -
They say they require it but I don't have one. Told them I never want to go back there again. And that was when you could get in with your birth certificate.
Gunny92 Thanks this. -
I called them one time just out of curiosity and asked about the specialized division...I told him plain that I wasn't going to Canada, he gave me a line about not having to go up there much...I told him once was one time too many for me.
He wouldn't agree to hire me without the passport...but he did try real hard to talk me into it. -
Gunny,
In all honesty, you probably can't make a bad decision here...one may or may not be better than the other for you....but I seriously doubt either of them will be a bad decision.
