The B model has a Mechanical Advance whereas the 6NZ is an Electronic Engine.

Can it be manipulated with cat et?
-
It is constantly being manipulated at many varying conditions proportional to RPM, Boost, Load, Throttle pos etc etc.
Remembering the Cam timing is Fixed.. It the ECm that dictates the Injection timing.
Like below from a C12.Attached Files:

ET in its natural State cant change it but it can be influenced to a degree if you can edit the cfg and re-calc the Checksum. however that will be a Global change of the timing sensors only and to me not arguably of any great advantage. However done in the timing Maps its effectiveness is far greater as the degree of timing you may desire at no Load is very different to full load. along with RPM the timing is very different.beltrans, HISPEED428 and j-dawg Thank this.

full load to the right, part load to the left?

Far_Call I'm mapping a tractor and a peterbilt! I can pull, read, and edit the files, just not sure what maps to change. Can you help? looking to increase by only 20% the engines are gonna be fresh rebuilds.
-
You can change about anything you want but without the correct checksum calculator it's useless. This why I asked about doing it with et

CAT ET is not an engineering tool. If you post your byte I'll gladly checksum it for you, thats if your able to help me out. Scratch my back and I'll scratch yours
For the pm you sent me on what I use, well I'm a professional tuner so, dynojet (dyno), dimsport, hondata, bdm100, k-tag, kessv2, efilive, etc there is lots out there and I only use genuine sw. I strictly do cars and bikes. Diesel trucks are new to me :/ If my dyno did big trucks I wouldn't be on here, as I would just dyno test my changes till i got what I was looking for. Can you share with me an original file and a dyno proven modified file? also the increase? THANKS

Thanks for the replies everyone!
Greg how does that C12 map numbers relate to degrees?
I was contemplateing getting my injector lobe reground on my 1000 shaft and was wondering how far advanced the ecm actually advanced the timeing on a 100% load?
