Hey Rat,
Couldn't you just have your 5th slide setup moved back a hole or two, usually there is some room before you ever get to the CL of the rear axle.
Unless of course you are that heavy on your drives, I know you are at or over a 100,000 right, also I thought you had a liftable axle right behind your sleeper?
Can't help you with the ash tray, I don't smoke, I don't no why your vents are rattling, I,ve never had a peep out of the ones on my 384, should be identical to your 386?
Also can't comment on the DEF as mine is a 2010, no DEF.

Yes, during certain months of the year I run 105,500 lbs. Come spring time though, our weight limits are dropped down to 98,000 or so depending on the roads we are running. As far as the defroster vents. I have no clue myself. I thought that maybe they forgot to fasten them or something in the plant. Brought it in to get it fixed and all they did was to try to duct tape them in place. Still did not help. I had to wad up two peices of paper towel and shove one in each defroster vent to keep the tubing from banging against the vents themselves. Maybe if they would have put something around the outside of the vents were the duct work goes around the vents. Back to the weight thing on the steer. I am going to make up a stop for the fifth plate to make life easier a little bit. I have to slide the trailer forward before I load so that I am properly set up for when my pusher is down and it is a pain to get it right the first time. Just something to stop the plate when I move the trailer so I do not have to go back and forth trying to get it in the right hole. We carry between 53-54 on the tractor when loaded so you have to have it just right.

Rat if you get to an auto supply store they have a double sided foam strip that you would use on capper tops on pickups, I wonder if that might help, but I am with you on rattles, can't stand them in the truck. -
I have some of that here at the house and will be doing it myself but I was letting peterbilt deal with it first to see if they would actually fix it.

I have a 2003 pete 379. When it rains , water is leaking through the roof ( doesn't matter if truck is moving or parked ). I have been up on roof and don't see any place it could leak. Pulled down back edge of interior ceiling liner and I see there is a solid liner blocking my view. Cannot be easily removed to look at underside of roof to see where water is coming in. I am talking about roof of cab . Not sleeper. Of course I sometimes find dampness in floor of sleeper too. Anybody know the most likely place for a roof leak?

Same here only on right front. Carpet is wet after rain or washing.
