My situation

YeH I know,but according to the verbiage in her posts,she just might be a Lil naive is all...Not everyone out here has the tough skin,some are still somewhat passive,and may just need a Lil guidance " with love and respect"..I meet really sweet guys out here too that would fit the same profile.

Anywho,congrats on your home,you should be very proud not just bc of the beautiful home,but your " journey" getting there...

Every person experiences hardships, financial troubles, deaths in the family, etc. Of course they put strains on our psyche. The true test of a persons character is the way the build themselves up from the bottom when times can't get any worse. You are no different than any of us out here. Remember, this is a truck driving forum, not a millionaires social club. We've all been in situations similar to yours. The key to dealing with your burden is knowing that times will eventually get better. Put yourself in a good frame of mind, have a positive outlook and don't get too down on yourself or others if things aren't going your way. They will eventually. You just have to be able to put in the effort to get there.

 

I just recieved a phone call from the childhood friend of mine...Here is the scoop...

The company hired his newbie ###..He will work M-F on a dedicated route with a senior driver...He will be home every night...

They are paying him 100.00 a day to ride with the senior driver.After that he gets .33 mile..Is that good.?...He called me and asked if that was decent for a ''new'' driver...

 

yea id say that is a great start for a new driver. dedicated route to boot ++

 

When they say "you won't make any money", they don't mean literally......unless you lease with CR England. In that case you won't make any money. I think what they mean is you're not going to get rich at a starter company. In my experience with Schneider the lowest I made was $560/week that I was in orientation. The most I made was 800/week. On average I would say I took home $650/week. It's not a lot but its a start. Good luck to you in finding your niche in the trucking world.

 

Why do you believe you would have to live in a man camp.I moved down here 2 years ago,lived in a cheap crappy motel for 6 months,saved my money and now own a house.If you live in the smaller towns housing is very cheap.

 

Yeah I guess so but if she's going to make a go of it in this business she'll need to get tough skin, this here little electronic box ain't nut'n compared to what she'll have to endure driving a truck for a living lol.
I really do wish her the best of luck but I know how hard it is to make it and if her posts are any indication, her being a li'l naïve may be an understatement.
I went into it dam the torpedoes full speed ahead! and I told my self every day that "failure is not an option"
I really could not afford to fail but there were many days when I wanted to throw in the towel, I'd just tell myself in my mind to give it another day.
It was just like that, one day at a time, one day at a time, one day at a time for days and then weeks and then months and eventually years before I finally felt like I had reached something sustainable.
I'll be at my 3 years mark soon and still consider myself a rookie driver, not as green as when I started by any means but nowhere near a seasoned veteran either.
No complaints!.....I'd do it all again in a heartbeat to get on with my life and move forward but it's been a tough row to hoe and anyone who's thinking about doing this should know at least somewhat what they're getting themselves into.
