I do not know your situation, but someone with some business sense would have known when they signed the lease agreement that you were not a company driver and that you would be receiving a 1099 and not a W-2. That is why many people fail at prime, they do not do their home work and do not have a business plan before starting. What happen after the first year that you got a 1099, didn't you realize it then, also if you would have saved all your receipts they would have deducted those expenses.
I am sorry you had problems there because of lack of planning but that does not make it Primes fault.

The thing with people putting so many extras on their trucks is a I want it! not I need it! They go overboard trying to have the best looking truck and do not take into account the cost of looking good.

It is the person that is leasing the truck job to know all the particulars before signing that agreement and have money set aside to allow for expenses, not taking advances. Knowing your operating costs and understaning what deductions you can take. It is a business and it has to be treated that way. Earnings-expenses-taxes= net profit.

The big question is how much did you sleep during orientation when they went over all of that when you were hired? If both of you were there then you had to have been sleeping at the same time. Who did you think were going to pay the taxes if it was not you? Man steelerfan, you sound like my cloned brother...lol...

How long is Orientation at PRIME? The norm is 2 or 3 days at most outfits, but if I had to learn about the business side of it, I cant imagine how they could cram that info in 3 days. Anyway, just curious.

    Hey Semi- Retired
Would cloned sister do?...........LOL How long have you been with Prime?

That is were most of the Prime bashing comes from, people like country charm that have no knowledge of how to run a business or do their homework, and they fail and want to blame Prime for their failures.

A sister would be just fine..lol..I dont have one of those. They tried to clone me once and they got a cross between a bald eagle and a gorilla...lol...
Ive been with Prime for 8 months now but I catch on pretty quick with anything. I owned a business for 20 years that I gave to my son to be out here. I planned on just taking it easy and become "Semi-Retired" but it is too easy to make $$$ out here that I just seem to move forward and will be buying my own fleet in the next couple of years. When it starts to feel like work then I will hold back the reigns a bit but this is $$$ for nothing out here. I start classes for my training here tomorrow but I do not know as of yet if I am going to be able to sleep with an inexperienced driver behind the wheel. We will soon find out

Good luck to ya--hope your training goes well. I am not sure i could be a trainer--although i always see a shortage of women trainers. Of course, when i started, I specifically asked for a male trainer for I find it easier to learn from men. Anyways, good luck to ya! :biggrin_25517:

I do not have a problem with training a women. I just would not tell the wife. :) But so long as they are willing to drive and I feel safe with whomever it is, then I suppose it will be ok. I did not want to train in the first place. I would make a great teacher but having to sleep while another drives is going to be a challenge to me. Tylenol PM I here is the trick to it. I am not going to be an instructor, just the guy who drives the miles with them to get their own truck. Ill run them as hard as I feel they need to get used to to make a good living. teach them how to manage there time and organize themselves so that it is a good and easy transition. Done with class on wed.

    Be good and be safe

They don't really refer to company drivers on their website. Nor do they have a contact tab for phone numbers, e-mail etc.

This is directly off of their website:

"During your training period, you can expect to be out for four to six weeks at a time. Once you become a lease operator, you will then be able to set your own schedule for getting back home. There is no compensation during your training for the first 3 weeks if you are in Prime's school or an approved school. However, once you complete your orientation and receive your first dispatch, you will be considered a "C" seat driver associate and will be paid per mile for all loaded and unloaded miles. The entire training process should be three months minimum up to 6 months."

I note the second sentence, "Once you become a lease operator." No where does it mention company drivers.

I'm also wondering the wording of their contract if you use Prime Inc to get your CDL if you have to sign on as an O/O.

If it sounds to good to be true. It usually is.
