Ok I'm going with the cat 3406e 6TS23441 cant realy realy read the data tag does anyone know anything about these engines? My Detroit 14L has gone to a better place if ya know what I mean.
-
Whats the current power rating of it? That engine would be from most likely a 1998 year truck so you're going back quite a few years as far as the electronics are concerned. Its a 40pin ecm with single timing sensor, personally I'd prefer to put in a 70pin ecm engine ie. 2WS, 1MM, 6NZ, 7CZ or MBN.
-
IT's a 435hp but I understand that it can be turned up as high as 550hp or so I have heard. I;ll just be glad to get it going again the bills dont stop because the truck is down. I had the ser. # ran it is a 1998 6TS and they said it came in a Ford truck.
-
If its steel pistons it could be turned up to at least 600hp without changing injectors.
-
Ok thanks. It does have the steel top 2 peace pistons in it. Would I have to change the ecm or anything or just turn up the ecm that is on it now?
Does all 3406E engines have the same size pistons? -
You can just turn up the ecm thats on it.
-
Ok we got the 3406E swaped from the detroit14L it run good but the jake and cruise control wont work. Does anyone have any idea what would cause this problem. The guy that swaped the engine for me said the ecm is saying the clutch pedal is pressed in even when it is not. Does anyone know if you can turn this off in the ecm or would it mess it up?
-
Sounds like the clutch switch is stuck or the clutch linkage isn't correct. Either that or the wiring was not done properly, If it were me I wouldn't want to bypass the clutch switch
-
we checked clutch switch it works the linkage is correct. Does anyone know how to wire up the jake brake what pins on the plugs to work with or any ideas will help? I really need the jake brake to work I haul heavy steel loads everyday and need all the braking power I can get.
