KateL, I was actually taking the time to actually care about the things you were saying, but now that i'm caught up with this topic....not so much anymore.

You got burned, don't want to work at a "bottom feeder", or go to the oil fields and work in an "man camp" (Someone needs to explain that one to me, thats something I havent heard of before Man Camp?)....

Then you are only making 200 a month, no jobs where you are, before I start sounding hypocritical....just buck up and apply to everywhere and take a job. If pets are that important, or hometime, or whatever sort through them all. Take one of those jobs some of my fellow newbies here on the site are talking about...that 7 on 7 off or 14 on 7 off gig.......

Again, if I had "fortune cookie" wisdom to pass along i would.....just go apply for any company you can think of...someone will give you the keys to a truck....someone.

There's absolutely no reason whatsoever that you have to sacrifice yourself or go with a "bad" company to get your start or foot in the door. There are plenty of companies out there that will give you a chance, you just have to take the time to find them. They don't advertise like the mega-carriers because they aren't in the biz of cheap, recycleable labor.

I have another forum friend that thought the very same thing and had a hard time finding her way, however after patience and perseverance she landed her dream job hauling horses and going to horse shows! (with no experience) It can be done if you put your mind to it and want it bad enough. If you just settle for less then that is what you are going to get! Those mega-carriers are hoping that is what you will do.

The mega-carriers are infamous for tarnishing your record once you leave them, ultimately making it harder for you to get a job with a good company. Not to mention that you will have a job hopping resume.

Do your homework, take the time to find a good carrier to drive for. If it were easy, everybody would be doing it and the mega-carriers would have a serious problem!
