Do violations in your personal vehicle count against your CSA? Been googling it but all the legal mumbo jumbo makes it a bit confusing.
CSA ?

No. Just in a commercial. I'd be jobless if half of what I've done in my personal vehicle counted
379exhd Thanks this. -
No, only points accrued on your CDL are used

Alright thank you guys. Know somebody that got a ticket in their personal vehicle and was just calculating would would go on their CSA if it goes on there and it would've been 30 points I believe once mulitiplied. Guess our state decided to do what others have done and no stop classes for CDL drivers.
-
Yeah. I heard the first 12 months gets 3x multiplied. I've never checked my score or would know what I'm looking at if I did see it. Might wipe my @zz with it if it was printed on a soft enough tissue
-
Good point rodknocker. That's what I had heard as well I have never checked mine either should be clean never had a violation. Hopefully it stays that way. But your right I wouldn't know what to look for either if I pulled mine and I think I'd wipe my ### with it weather it was on soft tissue or not.
rodknocker Thanks this. -
Only the violations that are accompanied by a DOT inspection (level I, II or III) are reported to the FMCSA, and end up in CSA- whether it results in a ticket or just a warning. Anything in your personal vehicle, or a ticket by a local yokel in your CMV that doesn't have an inspection attached are not reported to CSA. The points are multiplied x3 for the first year (tip 'o the hat to rodknocker,) x2 for the second year, drop off after the third year.
However, tickets in your personal vehicle still count against your CDL at the state level. If I'm not mistaken, you have to report them to your carrier as well.379exhd Thanks this. -
Actually, the scoring is X3 for the first 6 months, X2 for 6months to 1 year, x1 for 1 year to 2 years. After 2 years the violation is worth 0 points but will still show up on your record for another year. After 3 years it drops off completely. And like Ironpony said, the only way for ANY violations or tickets to make it onto your PSP is through an inspection. That includes accidents AND warnings.

They changed that. The system they were touting before the launch in 2010 was more severe. Good to know.

Got a link to a source for that? First time I've seen that....always been 12 months @ x3, 24 months @ x2, 36 months @ x1.
http://csa.fmcsa.dot.gov/FAQs.aspx Question #60:
How does time severity work in the Driver Safety Measurement System (DSMS)?
The violations in DSMS are impacted by time severity; that is, more recent violations are weighted more heavily than older violations that occurred within the last year count three times, violations that occurred between one and two years ago count twice, and violations between two and three years old count only once.
