Passed my final simulated throwing tarps over stoce models, waiting to meet up with my Driver Trainer. I'm grateful for the opportunities I have been given by my instructors and all the others that have made this new chapter an easy transition. Seeing all the little things that goes on behind-the-scenes for a load, I have a new respect for this profession.

If you are extended an invitation by Maverick, are serious about a career as a driver, I will tell you that I feel this was one of the best decisions I have ever made. That sentiment was echoed More than once by my coworkers going through the training. Not one time was anything presented in a manner that left me feeling I was getting sold a bill of goods. On the contrary, safety, respect, doing it the right way, and positive encouragement prevailed. I am certainly appreciative of this and intend to extend and meld this mindset into my new career.

Well my DR still hasn't faxed the needed things to Maverick to get me cleared. He wants a follow up visit first to see how my meds are doing and to go over things before he does. What really sucks is all these DR visits and I don't have insurance because I'm not a full time career employee with the postal service. So more money bleeding that I was hoping I wouldn't have to do. Well, it is what it is. The reason I am going into trucking is because my job is being riffed and I won't have a route by June 15th and going down to working minimal hours isn't going to work for me. Plus the postal service isn't what it once used to be and I haven't felt secure in my job in a long time. It is a shame because I really liked my job, but at the same time I am looking forward to work for Maverick. So my DR visit is June 7th to go over everything and then my DR will finally fax everything to Maverick so they can finally clear me medically to work. I will say my patience is starting to wear thin as this has been a long process for me. I hope I can get on soon because as of June 15th I will only be working about 12 hours a week which really isn't enough to support myself. My dad was a truck driver for many years and it was something I have always considered if things with the postal service didn't work out. Right now I am looking forward and moving on to bigger and better things!
jxu417 Thanks this.
