Well I know Reddaway wanted experience when I signed up, especially doubles experience. Might not hurt to just go down to the yard and show your face. You will have better luck at YRC though. I wouldn't pass up that team run if I were you. It will still be better than any OTR company starting out and you'll be making a boat load more money too. Plus there is the option to go solo after a while.

I did go to their yard, they have one of those rotating gates, besides it, there's an intercom. I ask to to talk to someone regarding employment, and all they said was to fill out online and wait for someone to call me, bummer.

You're not missing anything in California. As far as I'm concerned the only 2 things California has going for it is the weather and activities. Well that is if you can afford any of the activities or actually go have fun where there isn't wall to wall people. Goes for everything, beaches, skiing, hunting, amusement parks and the list goes on. Traffic is unreal in some areas and just bad everywhere else. The air will kill you. Utah is awesome! I really liked Provo and Ogden. I think my favorite state has to be Tennessee. Don't want to live in a big city there or anywhere for that matter but I sure love it there.

Well there is always OTR. I really can't bad mouth it. Some of the funnest times I've had were out on the open road. I did OTR for about 7 years. Got to see some beautiful places. Yes the pay is lower and you are away from home but I wouldn't have had it any other way looking back on it. It was a great experience and I still made 40-60k a year depending on the company. Made some good friends that I still keep in touch with. I am planning on going back to it someday. Probably buy my own truck again (did that once for 8 months and made a killing)! I miss those big ol sleeper trucks and their smooth ride. Better than the million mile junk I get to drive at Reddaway! After every shift I swear I slipped another disc in my back.

Filled out some on line applications and received some positive responses, one even sent an email to the school saying a had been pre-approved for employment. Another sent an email to my residence asking me to call them prior to graduation to set up an interview.

I have this love-hate relationship utah. I'll like to settle in socal for a few months in the winter so I don't freeze up here. I need to make up mind, may be alittle push, close my eyes and go out there. haven't really being on my own per say, lol. I wanted to be local so I can sign up and get some trade skills, may be welding or diesel mechanics of some sort of college classes. get out of debt, enjoy it,and save for later.
