the only one good thing I know of the mbe is the better fuel mileage they get compared to a lot of other engines.

I've checked the whole truck and test drove it personally. I also looked through the past weeks trip history on Detroit Reports program and there is little fluctuation in each days summary. Weather has been pretty consistent and he was running pretty well the same route that whole week.

I also found while checking the truck out that there was a VSS opened circuit code in the history, unfortunately with the Mercedes it doesn't give you the time it happened and duration like a Detroit will, but I do know it happened twice although not sure on how recent.

We also specifically asked him if its possible someone may have syphoned fuel and he said no way, it was in my driveway.

I know for a fact the truck didn't burn an extra 400+ litres.

It sounds like he drove around with the VSS unplugged or the VSS failed and started working again. The pete I'm driving was getting 3.2-3.8 consistently when I started driving it. The shop supposedly flashed it back with the proper 475 file and it gets 4.8-5.15 now. Could have been a fluke in the the ecm but I doubt it.

on average about 2-3 hours a day idling. Even if the VSS was unplugged it wouldn't burn 400 liters of fuel extra. My suspicion is that he may have unplugged the VSS to maybe go deliver his buddy's load for cash maybe and that way his mileage wouldn't rack up.

Ok that scenario I can see but if you cant trust a guy I wouldnt employ them..I just know its possible to burn the fuel and I know it sucks cause it raises your per running mile cost in fuel alone it brought mine up to 1.20 mi and when your lucky to get 2.00 before expenses its hard to make money ..I just dont want to see a good guy take the fall for something somewhat out of his control other then driving habits

How many fleets are running gps tracking ? It's Realy good for scheduling servicing and alot of other things like knowing where the trucks are at the click of your I phone.
maybe a covert install is needed on this truck!

Yup, crime only happens in "bad neighborhoods", that's why rich people don't have security systems
