Well, I have been here over a year now and all is good! I must admit that what they told me when I hired on, is what I got. I have not had to do a restart on the road, there have been a couple times when I only had exactly 34 hours at home but I can't complain. I have had times when I was sick or my Husband was sick and they have done what they can to get me home. They know and care about my home life which is a big change from any other company that I ever worked for!
The pay and benefits are in line with other companies from what I have seen. You won't get rich, but you can make a decent living and still have a life.
I am still the only female driver here at Garner, but I am now a trainer. So ladies, be sure to consider Garner if you would rather have a lady trainer. I am willing to answer any questions if you like. Just send me a message.
What Garner offers...

Just an update! Garner has bumped up their trucks a bit. We can now do 65 on cruise. Also, they are getting 35 new volvos and 50 new trailers. They should start rolling in sometime in June! I also heard that they are looking for Slip-seat drivers, home every day in Indiana and Ohio.

How long is the training period? Do the drivers have a choice of getting an auto or a 10 speed? Any other info you can give about new drivers or driver training would be appreciated. How often do you guys run over to WI/IA/MN? Are they somewhat flexible on hometime?
Thanks -
Training is usually 3 weeks with a trainer. The trainer is ALWAYS in the jump seat while you are driving. They are mostly automatics, but you need to learn both. We do go to Eagan, MN and La Crosse WI. They do get you home each week for your reset. The main area we run is Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Western NY State. About a 600 mile radius of Findlay, OH.

How often are the Lacrosse runs, that's my area. Do you have any dedicated runs for drivers after a while or is it all regional?
Thanks -
how do they pay for training. after one week, two weeks or daily? advance pay on the gas card, or after three weeks in lump sum.
-
Nice area to drive in.
-
How many miles do drivers average a week with them?
-
I am not sure how many Lacrosse runs we do. I know I usually see about 3 others when I pull in there, but that is just what I see on the day I am there.
They pay just like a regular schedule, weekly. They may hold it back one week so they have time to set you up. I am pretty sure I only had 1 paper check before the direct deposit started. I know they can do cash advances but I am not sure how they work that. The only estimate I can give you on miles would be mine. Scott Ritchie would be able to tell you. I do know that I have hit the minimum pay about 4 times last year. So I am really glad that they have that! Freight is changing all the time and I love knowing that my check will never go below my Minimum Pay Level.
I can tell both of you that you can call our recruiter and he is NOT a high pressure guy. He is brutally honest because Garner does not want to invest in training drivers who get disappointed and leave. They are looking for good professional drivers who will spend the next 20 years as part of their family. I know it sounds corny, but that is how I see it. They treat us well and care about us. Good luck and hopefully I will see you out there soon
Emma18Bravo, Lonesome and driver8660 Thank this. -
