Hello drivers, Okay im having a blower issue. My truck is a 2004 freightliner century with a cat C15. The blower quit on me and i replaced it and still wont turn on. I tested the power wire going to the blower with a meter and it's getting voltage. Also tested the connection on the fan speed selector and that's getting power as well. I looked over all the fuses in the box and all good nothing blown, im stumped and its getting hot as hell out as summer is approaching. The bunk blower will turn on and blow fine, just wont blow cold ac air from the back but the control in the cab will turn the bunk blower on so im sure the switch up front is working. Any input or help is greatly appreciated id rather try and fix this myself then pay $90.00 an hour for labor some where right now. Thanks again.

You may want to check the blower fan resistor. It should be somewhere near the blower fan.

The resistor could be your problem, but it will usually work on high.

Try unplugging the mode selector switch and plugging it back in, it's the one that changes floor/defrost/panel. We used to have that problem all the time and I don't know why, but when when unplugged and plugged back in, they work. Sometimes it'd last a month or so, sometimes they'd never have another problem. There is something in them resets when you unplug it. Another common problem is the blower fan speed switch and the pigtail melts, so look at that too. The blower relays would melt inside sometimes too, but if you have power at the motor, that is probably OK.

May not be your issue, but it's some free checks for you.

Thank you for the above info very much appreciated. Prior to you advising on what to check i talked to the dealer today and explained whats going on, the dude told me to rip apart the dash and inspect every wire. He stated that 2003-2004 Freightliners are notorious for frayed or shorted wires behind the CD player. So i parked the truck at home after being in NJ all day and i tore apart the dash to inspect, i didn't see anything broke or wrong i followed all the wires. Something told me to recheck all the fuses so did and sure enough there was a 20amp fuse blown with no description, here all along i thought that fuse with no description was just a spare and with all the plastics on you cant see there is wires coming off the bottom hahaha. So i pretty much wasted $177.00 bucks on a new blower for nothing and the dealer wont let me exchange due to it being a electrical part so if anyone needs a brand new blower for a freightliner let me know. Just ended up being a blown fuse. Thanks again GrapeApe.

keep the motor.your gonna need it.a fuse is protection for something not working correctly.if it blew, chances are something caused it.

I agree on keeping the motor you bought. The old one may well have blown the fuse.
Did the filter near the blower look clogged up? That is something else that can cause some types of fans to draw more current at times.
Isn't the dash amazing in a Freightliner, everything Yellow?:biggrin_2555:

check your fuses and repeat. or tear apart the dash and trace every wire. i put a multi meter to everything to check voltage. see if your getting power to the harness to the hvac components. Beats paying 110 bucks an hour for labor to diagnose.
