Well I'm approved to go to prime inc sometime after I graduate my schooling through NETTTS. Probably some time in August. Now here's another question. What size are their sleepers and how can a big guy like me be on the top bunk....lol! Haha

Sorry IP, in 22yrs of being in the industry, I have never heard of such a thing, and certainly never been subjected to any " sleep test" myself. Not saying it isnt so, just that this is the first I have heard of it myself.
As far as your job goes, I called them years ago on behalf of someone I knew, and about fell out of the seat laughing. Granted my information is not up to the minute, but I did indeed speak to them about someone who wondered about leasing on there/leasing a truck from there. And after those 22yrs of accident free driving in 19 different countries, both under my own authority and leased onto companies, I will admit to not putting up with too much bs from some recruiter on a telephone! I can spot a scam (in my book anyways) from a pretty far distance away, knowing what I do about truck purchasing, income, and so on.
They seemed to prey on those that have bad credit, or for any other reason wouldn't get financed anywhere else. For the life of me, and I quote your good self here, this is a business, not a part time job.
Walk away lease? Go to any financial institution and say such things, then see them fall out of their chairs laughing too. If you need to "feel the waters" to run a business, you aren't ready. Just like if you have no money for a deposit for a truck/trailer, and so on.
Prime is certainly not on their own in the flease deals, but they are, and have been, a major player in it for as long as I can remember.
I know you are happy there, and have read your posts about it. I would however, be willing to compare settlements, gross and net income, and so on, in a private setting (pm's) with you. As when people see what is actually out there, and how much cheaper trucks are than a lease deal through a carrier, it is eye opening to most. Nobody's fault, and I certainly hope I did not come off as insulting anyone's intelligence as it was no where near my intention. But when people are exposed to new things, it broadens their horizons and lets them make INFORMED decisions about the industry they are in. That is my only goal, not to belittle anybody for who they drive for.
All the best
Keep safe

Like I said, grist for another thread. For me it's a stepping stone, and a way to make sure that a EPA '07 truck isn't going to bankrupt me. It's not difficult to make money here, you just can't be driving the truck like someone else owns it.
Very simple. My truck. You want to be on it? Git in the top bunk!
-
Lol haha is there a weight limit on the top bunk ?? Lol
-
Maybe this is a backdoor way for companies not to hire overweight drivers who do indeed ruin seats and bunks.
-
Load limit, 10 tons???
-
just asking a question no need to get all huffy and puffy
-
Anything that get's posted outside of the Prime forum is troll bait.
-
lol. But seriously, if you're a big, guy you should know that some people do discriminate against others because of their weight. It isn't right, but it does happen. -
Yeah, and this isn't discrimination... unless you happen to feel that a personnel policy in a carrier you have no connection with is a personal insult to yourself.
A number of years ago, one of the experienced drivers we hired, who happened to have severe diagnosed AND untreated sleep apnea, fell asleep at the wheel, blew through a red light and slaughtered a family. There of course was a huge liability settlement. We do sleep studies now only when it is indicated by a doctor's diagnosis.
A third party sleep testing clinic was contracted to do them... NO FINANCIAL CONNECTION to Prime.
A facility for said tests was established on site to do these studies CONVENIENTLY for our drivers. You are not blackballed, sent home to get your own test with loss of income, etc. - like many other carriers do. Show the required usage and you get a one-year medical card.
The CPAP machine and test are discounted to our drivers in the deal cut with Sleep Pointe, and financial assistance is provided so that it is not a hardship on our drivers.
Part of the charge is for a year's follow-on care, and adjustments and replacement parts for the machine.
If you are not diagnosed positive, you only receive a very nominal charge... not thousands of dollars for a negative testjshkorn Thanks this.
