Don't know about van but bulk does. Of course why you would work bulk without haz is beyond me. Talk about sitting a lot.
Twicebit is right, it is simple and will really help you.

I'd ask the recruiter when did JC Penney start shipping hazmat loads . That's a big red flag right there .

whats up with rejection after orientaton? how does that work? how would some people get rejected and others not?

i've nothing on my MVR or background. i'll pass a FBI Check. but i've read some horror stories of people being rejected at orientation or after. never about schneider, but about other companies.

just wondering if anyone has any insight into this?

Don't know exactly. When I went to orientation only one guy got sent home because he was sleeping in class constantly. When I went to school to be a trainer there were 9 students and five got sent home for various things. One guy couldn't read, literally. The others just could not drive no matter how much work the instructors put in. Oh and one guy just left. Nothing crazy or anything, all legit reasons.

They say that is a requirement for all drivers, but I was there almost 2 years and never got it and never lost loads because of it. I was a regional van driver.

Hello! I have worked for Schneider, so maybe I can help a little with your questions. First, the pre-hire physical testing done at your orientation will not rule you out by using a chart. Instead, physical therapists will put you through activities intended to simulate job related tasks. Your heart rate will be measured after each activity. There is a YOU Tube video that will tell you a little more about the pre-employment physical screening. I am overweight (270 lbs), and I passed the screening with no trouble.
Secondly, you have expressed anxiety about the customer you will be dedicated to on your regional, dedicated position. If that company happens to go out of business, I have no doubt that you will be given the opportunity to work on another account. I was an OTR linehaul driver and I got sent to help out on dedicated accounts once in awhile (Wal-Mart, Sears, etc.). Schneider has TONS of dedicated accounts with businesses that are very stable.
I have worked for 2 other companies besides Schneider. The first one was a large company that ended up being a mixed experience for me (bad and good there), and the other was with a very small company that paid well but has no work for me right now. I know that any large company has people who love them, hate them, swear they are amazing, and can't say enough about how awful they were to work for. Everyone's experience with the same place will not be the same. But I have to say I loved Schneider, and in MY experience with them they were professional, polite, fair, safety oriented, and kept me moving. Yes, bad things happen anywhere: I once went over my hours of service (my fault, not theirs) trying to get to a relay point- and the relay never took place, so I ended up delivering the load myself (late). I had some difficult to get to customers that involved driving through rural mountain areas that scared me $^!#less. I had a load pulled for no apparent reason and had to wait about 3 hours to get another one. But these things happen anywhere- that's truck driving. I would recommend Schneider to any driver who wants to work with a company that is fair and safety oriented, and I believe if you give them a try you will not regret your decision. Are you a new driver out of school, or do you have some experience? Either way, I wish you the best of luck in what I believe to be an excellent decision on your part.

I think that a small percentage of the time it has to do with conduct while at orientation. Schneider tells you that you need to treat the orientation time (in class and out) as if it were a job interview. I heard some of the instructors talking about why two individuals did not make it. One of them it was because he had really bad hygiene and did not appear to shower or change his clothes the entire time he attended orientation. The other one spent the evenings in the hotel restaurant getting drunk. Good reasons, I think. But I don't know why it happens at other companies after orientation. I would hope their reasons are just as good.
