Obviously LTL does not pay as well on a small gooseneck being pulled with a pickup. You only have so much weight capacity and space. However, when you get a "big boy's truck" ltl can get amazing rates even when you include all the miles picking up and delivering. We do it ALL the time. These LTL loads ALWAYS end up better than the full loads even when it adds a day or two to the travel time.
What is with rates???

The knowledge has been sucked right out of this thread. See ya
SHC Thanks this. -
Hey bayoo, how'd you do at the races in Iowa awhile back?
-
A "big boys truck" as you put it cost twice as much or more to operate. Most claim at least 1.60-1.70 a mile before any drivers pay. I operate on .80 a mile. I did own a class 8 once the guy couldn't pay the repair bill. a cabover pete with a V12 detroit and 13 speed.
sold it to finance company that original owner owed money to. Lets see you drive a class 8 through the mid town queeens tunnel?
I also have an irrational case of acrophobia I done clipped mirrors on the lake charles bridge sitting that high I'd shoved someone over the edge. -
Anyone that claims 1.60-1.70 per mile without drivers pay doesn't know what they are talking about unless they have a heavy haul setup. I can pay a W2 driver .50 cpm, run a new truck and trailer, $4 fuel at 6.6mpg for $1.70 per mile.
mcgoo422000, Billerd and SHC Thank this. -
As in new truck do you mean zero mile new? If you do a search here theres more than one that has claimed these kind of numbers and more to operate?
my .80 a mile is probably a little high but I like wiggle room. Plus I like to depreciate out quicker to. Would you PM me a break down of how you come to this CPM and does it include deadhead? -
You have supplied no knowledge just claims that ltl pays. Please provide data and some pictures to back up your claim?
The one thing I find with the internet it allows people to build and present bigger and better half truths.truckon Thanks this. -
Um, Cluck has plenty of pics in the flatbed forum of him stacking it deep.
