slower speed means more money. better fuel economy

i'm making a killing this week. except for one problem. my bundle of foam for a dropper was packaged for a 48 flat. which is what they were expecting. needless to say one bundle is sitting on there home made foam levelors. and that bundle has tilted backwards into the second bundle which happens to be the first drop. and since each layer shape of foam is sandwiched with a wood plate on both sides. the first load is cutting into the second load.

so here i sit at the truckstop till morning for decision to fix the load. and hope the second drop will unload me on saturday.

It depends on which side you are on. For you its true not so much for me. I do not get a fuel bonus, but I do get paid hub miles. The faster I can go the more money I make.

I had to go clean out my truck again since the team broke their rig again. I have spent the last three month fixing all kinds of stuff on that truck, cleaning it and trying to get the cigarette smell out and here I got the short end of the stick again. I brought all my stuff home and I am trying to talk myself out of quitting.

This stuff will drive me to go and get my own truck. It is tempting since I sold my motorhome yesterday and put a nice chunk of cash in the bank.

At current gig..hourly pay. We have speed gage...any time I go over 5 plus on speed limit, boss gets an e-mail. Wow, having tough time slowing down. Oregon has 55 mph limit on trucks. I try to set cruise at 58 with R E T A R D S ( is not allowed....really. darned political correctness) on, but with the 6% declines keep busting 62.......Guess I have to set cruise at 53.....:biggrin_25524:

I think you would be much happier with your own truck...We would find it impossible to work for a company now!

Got an OOS last night for the truck plus a $127.50 ticket. OOS was for "air pressure loss when governer in and at idle". What the heck is that supposed to mean??
What he had me do was, push both knobs in, pump down the brakes till the buzzer came on, then sit. He said the needle went down, instead of starting back up. Mechanic found nothing wrong and said everything was working like it was supposed to. Go figure. Think company is going to fight it.

Pan, Think you have a giant target upon your broadside. That is why I hate this DOT (aka, giant gobernment) takeover. It cannot be good. Never is. Just gets more, and more a burden on the driver. It will drive more O/O's out of business.......Trying to maintain my positive outlook:biggrin_2558:
