It's been awhile since I posted so now that I have a minute I'll give an update. Stayed pretty busy the week before Memorial day. Ended up getting home midday on Friday and used a vacation day on Tuesday so it was a 4 1/2 day weekend. Got some time on the scooter with my club brothers and spent lots of time with the family. It was great and recharged my batteries.

Went back out midday on Wednesday. Picked up a load in Monterey TN headed to the Raleigh NC area. Then picked up in New Hill NC and toted it to Cherryville. Then picked up in Charlotte and took that one to Scottsburg, IN. Now I'm shut down at the Cincinnati yard. Running an LTL to Knoxville then picking one up there headed to Norcross. I'll finish off delivery on a couple of loads around Atlanta on Monday morning and then I pick up in Braselton, GA and head for Garland, TX. Decided to run the weekend so I could up my miles a bit after being off. Weekend dispatch has kept me loaded up but man can they get things screwed up in a heartbeat. I know they are busy and they try hard but it makes me miss my old fleet manager. It's not been the same since he quit. It's still a great place to work, but I will be glad when I get a permanent FM in place.

Be safe. I'll try to update more often.

Cory I'll shoot you a pm with my phone. Between breakdown and no miles I'm being crushed financially. Was brokedown for seven hours last night. Yet it didn't hurt me too badly because I was going to have to wait ten hours for an LTL anyway after delivering at 1400hrs. I'm delivering early consistently and my reward is a 5-10 hour wait for a 280 mile load. Or I'm given a good load on wed in Ohio for delivery in Atlanta area at 1900hr's on Friday. I took the initiative and emailed the consignee for an earlier day and time. Got it and delivered 26hrs early. Had five hours left on my clock. Guess what I did? I sat at the consignee until the next day. I'm in constant contact with an experienced driver. He said I'm kicking butt on my planning etc. I deliver early, pick up early. Then I sit. I'm pretty depressed right now. As I sit WAITING over two hours to get loaded I'm supposed take this POS tractor to the Houston yard, load into another and deliver this load. So far I've worked four hours and not made a dime.

And the hits keep coming. Spent 2+
Hrs moving to the loner truck in the tx heat, backed into my slot for the night, got up to start my day and the truck gives me an "F" flashes check trans and won't crank. 0330hrs and the shop people don't know either. I guess I'll miss my appt time in LA.

Tnronin, I am really sorry to hear how bad things are going for you. I hope they improve before you feel forced to find a job with another carrier. My miles have been down big time. I pick up early when possible, deliver early, run hard, shut down at the customer so I can start with a fresh clock, etc. All the things you do to run smart. My first year I averaged 2300 miles a week. I figured up my numbers for 2013 and I am at 1850 per week. That's a big difference. i spoke with my fleet manager and told her some things need to improve on miles or I'll have to look for a job that keeps me at home. It's not worth being gone all week to make this kind of money. She said she will try to make things better. I have had job offers from other carriers but I won't leave Averitt for another truckload job. I like this place too much and I know how crappy some of the other places can be.

I was asked to run the weekend by the FM that was filling in for my FM last week. Was told they had plenty of miles to keep me moving all weekend. That was BS. It totally screwed up my hours. i am running on retread hours now and they are having to plan my loads around how many hours I get back at midnight. My FM was PISSED when she saw what he had done. Turns out he had run several of her drivers over the weekend and none of his. She had a nightmare on Monday with a bunch of drivers running lwo on hours and ticked about being hung out for the weekend for 500 miles. Then I am told I'll get sent home by Friday and the planner sends me a load going the opposite direction when I am low on available hours. Thankfully my FM took that load off of me and hopefully I find something headed to the CHA service center.

I don't know what has happened but planners don't seem to be as on the ball as they were. No complaints about my FM. She cares about her drivers every bit as much as Jeremy did. I give her kudos for that. Hopefully my miles improve and I see an increase in income in the next couple of months or I may be forced to see what else is out there for me. I hate even saying that. I really love Averitt.

Heh I'm in hou with no idea when or how I'm getting home. I hope to have a usable truck by 1500. My miles will suck hard once AGAIN this week.

Went for a random drug screen this morning. What else was I doing? LOL

I have been very fortunate. My first truck was a 2011 Volvo with 85,000 miles on it. My second was a 2012 Cascadia with just over 100,000 on it and I've rarely had to be in the shop for any major issues. My problem is some weeks I get loads stacked one on top of the other and then there are weeks like this were you get one done and is and wait in anticipation of another load. With my luck I'll have to drive all night after not being able to sleep much today. My body clock is all screwed up.

Before you quit please call David Broyles or someone higher up in truckload and talk to them. I have been told it helps. I haven't had to do it but several drivers have told me it turned their situation with Averitt around when they got the ear of the folks who can make things happen.

Did you pass the drug test? If I had the weeks you've been having I may have been suspect. LOL
