Ok, Most of you have read some of my posts.
Last year kinda went downhill for me with incident in Md.
Got let go from the carrier I was with. Was seriously thinking of leaving before, but was scared.
So then here I am with a mess on my hands and no contract..Well I dusted myself off and made a couple of calls.
Weird thing was I had 2 calls to me even offering me work. So it made me feel some what better.
So here I am with a 13 axle setup and needing work.
Crunch the numbers and the trl. was losing money for the past 1 1/2 years.
Ok sell the trl.
Well it got tied up and there was damage to it. Great..
I did get the trl. sold last Nov.Broke even on what I owed.
So anyhow within a week and a half, I'm with new company. I've known the people I work with alot of years.
Down sized to 7 axles. Well a stretch, but only 7 axles..
In this past year, my blood pressure has steadied out. My wife and I are not on pins and needles so much.
I'm running more miles, but the revenue after costs have come up..
My old trk. is happy pulling lighter loads.
When I want to take time off, no problem. No ringing of the phone or email alerts wanting to know if I'm ready.
No more bad info with lds. and rte. reports.
I've had to relearn my rate structure, No not bidding low, Some times to high.
So I guess all I wanted to say was I thought my world had ended with the miscue, but looking back this past year it has come out a whole lot better then I thought it would.
reflecting on the past year

without trying to sound cliché your attitude is everything when it comes to this gig, I'm just a company stooge at this point so I don't have that many frying pans in the fire so to speak but it still comes back to having a good attitude. Like Tim Ridley says this too shall pass. Glad things are looking up for you.
Billerd Thanks this. -

What you are saying is so true! A lot of times if we face issues head on and deal with them, even when whats going on seems to rough to handle, we can look back and see that it was not so bad after all. I was listening to a talk radio program the other day and the person talking said that the number one reason small businesses fail in this country is because the moment something does not go right people tend to throw in the towel and quit rather than figuring out a way to work around the problem.
I don't know you Passingthru69.... but CONGRATS on working through any issues you had and coming out the other side with your head held high! We determine our own destiny.... -
I love these type threads!!!! Congrats sir!!! ( ok sir was an assumption
)
SheepDog Thanks this. -
Yes, I am a sir, but my wife also deserves credit . She travels with me and she has stood by me in this whole mess..
She's even my helper with the trk. She knows the hauling aspect in this bussiness and the money end as well.
But we are still plugging on.
There are still some issues over the deal that are being worked out, but life and bussiness is doing better than last yearBAYOU, Giggles the Original and SheepDog Thank this. -
I'm so happy to hear y'all's story!!! Keep up the good work, and be good to each other.
Happy Trails..
