    Ok younguns ,

your turn to teach an old guy, whats with the big ole coils on cb antennas and the antenna is at basically a 45 degree angle pointed forward as opposed to being vertical...

Now to the best of my knowledge as a cb'er and a submarine radioman..... These cb antennas are omni directional. Meaning they xmit and rcv 360 degrees . So what with the 45 degree angle , is this just the new cool look or what.... See all thesed hurky antennas but don't see or hear anyone talking on the radio, or did we quit using ch. 19 as sesame street...................whiskey tango foxtrot?

Recalling from an electronics course I had in tech college a while ago: I believe the coil's purpose is that it gives the antenna more total length but reduces the height. As for the angle the antenna transmits at all angles but is optimal at 45 for the wave length used by cb's. Or at least that's what I seem to remember.

You set the antenna forward to avoid hitting trees and bridges with the whip 10-4.

You couldn't pay me to put a CB in my truck. I don't do pay phones either. Hello! It's 2013 calling, good buddy!

Still comes in handy to find out about major backups before you get past the point where it's too late to go around them. Oh yeah harrassing the guard's is fun to
