Got unloaded this morning in record time up in Kreamer Pa. My appointment was 7-8 AM this morning. They were late getting the tank loaded so I didn't get there until 1 AM. Backed under the rack, post tripped and went to bed. I set my alarm for 6:55 and was sleeping pretty hard when I got a knock on the door a little before 6 AM. When I pulled my curtain I saw they had all the safety barriers up and the pump out.
I said "You're early". Unloader said "don't get up, just hand me the bills, we are trying to beat the rain". 30 seconds later I was back in the bunk sleeping like a baby being rocked in a cradle from the movement of the truck from the pump.

I woke back up about 08:30 with 30 minutes left on my 8 hour sleeper berth split break. The last tank blew dry 5 minutes after I picked up the 2 hours or so that I didn't use the night before. 15 minutes on duty to check out and pre trip and I was on my way.

I am sitting at the Loves in Carlisle Pa now waiting for my 2 hour break to be up and pick up the rest of the hours I need to get home. Shower, breakfast and a little TR to pass the time before running home to start another 4 day weekend.

With Superior do you have to leave the truck at a terminal while on home time? I'm 4-5 hours from Chicago which I think is your closest terminal. I know you've delivered to Janesville which is about 2.5 hrs. from me so I know Superior gets close and I'm sure through my area SW WI.

I'm not a driver or a student yet although I have my class A with hazmat and tanker from working at a farm co-op several (18 years ago, Full-Time for 4 years. Even though I have the license I'm looking at going to school anyway as most places would prefer that from what I've read and I have no problem with that either. I've just paid for the hazmat renewal out of my own pocket when it comes up. I've also got a passport as well.

Thanks, I follow your posts and appreciate the detail.

You cannot take company tractors home. They are parked on the yard for home time. They want you to live pretty close. How close seems to be determined by how badly they need drivers. I live about 40 miles from my terminal. I would think 100 miles would be about the farthest away you can live and get hired on.

Does Superior have a spousal passenger program? Schneider Bulk did, the affiliate of Quality Carriers I pulled for did not. Considering going back to tanking.

No passengers. We use short sleepers. Plenty of room for 1 but a little cramped for two especially if one is a female. My wife would bring about 9 pairs of shoes alone.

Only 9? You lucked up and found a light packer. My wife packs more for a weekend trip than I did when I moved in.

She has gotten better over the years. On our homeymoon I drug an entire suitcase full of shoes across the Miami airport to catch our flight to the Cayman Islands. She wore the same pair of sandals the entire week.

Headed out on a new adventure to a plant I had never been to on Tuesday. I had to wait for the load to get ready until 15:00 so I only ran to Carrolton Ga about 398 miles and shut down at around 11 PM. This was a snot load going to a paper mill in Queen City Texas. My load appointment was a 24 hour window starting Thursday so I figured I would run about 600 no pressure miles Wednesday and shut down about 50 miles from the plant.

I got a call from dispatch just as I was heading out saying they wanted the product ASAP. I told them I could get it there that day but would need to stay at the plant. Dispatch called to check and was assured there was a place to park. He even sent me the contact persons name and number at the plant over the Quialcom in case I had any problem being allowed to stay there. I pushed it pretty hard and got here with 20 something left on my 11. Unload was an easy single 3 inch hose air off right by the gate.

Heading down to Pasadena as soon as my 10 is up.
