Yep; they get the dollar signs in their eyes, then run "hammer down" while yelling MOAR MILEZZZ! and getting 4-5 MPG. Then they wonder why their settlement doesn't cover their fuel cost. Of course, that's because Prime lied to them and is screwing them over. Meanwhile, there are over a thousand Prime lease ops out there cruising along at 55-58 MPH and getting nice settlement checks.

Do your homework on any company this is the information age don't belive one person check up on the things they are saying. I am 100% confident that prime is a good fit for me as well.

In the state of our so-called "recovering economy", Prime was and still is the best choice we could have made.
    Heres why:
After several years as a top paid union construction worker, 2009 began the downward spiral of when my husband found himself with no work at all. Too young to retire, but too "old" (on paper) to start a new career, his search for alternative work quickly became devastating! Age is not supposed to be a factor. Truth is, we found out the hard way that employers can and have refused my husband work for that very reason. Though most were more subtle with "overqualified" as their excuse, we actually had a few come right out hand say, "I need to hire someone younger". Eventually, my husband ended up with too much "gap in work history" making it even more difficult to be considered.
Having had a CDL several years before, he had plenty of previous driving experience, but no "recent" experience. So finding a trucking company that would hire him was a real challenge. Oh, there were a few, but the trucker reviews and blogs we read about a few of them, scared the hell out of us.
PRIME was one of the ONLY companies that we felt comfortable considering. Yes, they DO encourage drivers to lease, but hey, you can't beat the money that can be made leasing either.
Yes, Prime offered the leasing opportunity, but they urged my husband to drive "company" instead. Not because of his age either, because the option is always on the table. But he took their advise and has continued as a company driver to date. We are VERY satisfied with Prime. The money is good and there for the taking. Also, we started out at their main plaza in Springfield, MO. That place is top notch! They're VERY family focused and go out of their way to cater to us wives so we can ride along as much as we like. So before you pass judgement, try working with this company first. THEN write your post.:biggrin_25525:

Maybe I wasn't clear. What I said was, he always has the option to lease, but for now, has decided to drive company.

Oh, ok. Now I see why my post may have given you the impression that Prime drivers are encouraged to lease. But I have to admit, with Prime, I do get the feeling that those who lease with them are doing very well. It's tempting...

I always keep my eyes open to opportunity and they rarely stray far from here. I was recently offered the moon by maverick and to be honest they seem a good company. But they are a successful flatbed company trying to break into refer. If I had any interest in FB I might have given them more consideration. But the incentives were way less in FB

There are tons of military in trucking and most companies are military friendly mos t of the top brass at prime is military so if it matters prime is very military friendly at its core.
