In many areas Ryder is not hiring company drivers any more. They do many different things. I am hauling auto parts.

They have no touch accounts, accounts like Walgreens where you will handle freight.

Sometimes you are observed by safety driving. We are not allowed to smoke in the trucks, or use a phone. You are sometimes observed when pretripping, and post tripping. I have been written up twice for doing a good pretrip.

I leased on with them; dedicated power only for the Xerox account out of Groveport,OH. Let me just say there were MANY 1,000 mile days!! Multi stop loads with ZERO stop pay and breaking down and putting up shelving in the trailer for ZERO pay; even though the lease states we are to be paid for it!! Add into that they dictate time off all while paying $1.50 per mile made it a nightmare!!

I got on with them back in April. I'm more of a casual, temp driver. But that's why I applied. So this is perfect for me. I don't have any kids, or allot of bills.
They seem to be real nice to me. All I have to do is call in my mileage when I'm ready to leave. I work on the Haverty's account. We do the Demountables. You have to be careful with them things. If you forget one leg you have a problem. I don't unload anything. I just switch out boxes off of a chassis. The trucks I drive are fueled and clean when I get to it. They are washed on weekends. So far I'm happy.

Probably. There used to be a union bunch here in TN until the Saturn car plant closed. I heard the mechanics in Knoxville were union.

A little change: A member of our team got sick. So It is full time blow and go now. I gross well over $1000.00 a week. I'm home after every shift. I do work nights though. I like it. Be careful.

I was offered a team job hauling parts for Toyota out of Grand Rapids, MI to Princeton, IN home nightly and no weekends. We were contacted through a local temp agency but will be full time Ryder employees. Does anyone know much about this type of run with them and how good it might be? 1030.00 a week per member of the team.

DF you will might be working for the temp agency. I have been for 15 months. Some areas they hire after 90 days. Princeton can have some junky rusty trailers.

They told us it would be a direct hire but I will clarify. Is it a live unload or a drop and hook situation?

drop and hook in Princeton, live load on the other end or ends. I work for EP Transportation. We get the same pay as Ryder guys, less bennies. Toyota at some suppliers has lots of check off sheets.
