This is Nelly, she's pretty serious when the truck is moving too. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1370807994.525151.jpg

She only comes along for day trips though.

    Re: generator.
I also have a Honda EU3000is, mounted to the frame in an enclosure, with remote start/stop.
    Rooftop Ac.
Battery charger, and a portable heater for when the rooftop heat strip is too much heat, see's me done.
I have @$3k in the whole thing, and it has been 110% trouble free. Compare that to @$9k for a APU, along with the issues they have.....
    3 yr warranty from Honda.
1yr warranty from Dometic for the a/c.
I can also just plug in my ac and heat to shore power, which can't be done with an APU. Do it when I am at our yard, so it's free.
Weight wise, it's a no brainer. The Honda and rooftop air is @220lbs. Yet to see an APU that doesnt add at least 500lbs to the weight of your rig. Space wise is also better. I need @19" of frame space for the Honda, vs a lot more for the APU's.
I am currently trading the truck in, and the generator was far from an issue, in fact it was part of the deal to leave it on here. The rooftop ac has the exact same hole as a rooftop vent/fan from an RV, so pulling it out would be super easy.
Summertime costs me @2gallons for 10hrs of full blown ac and charged batteries.
Noise wise, no comparison. Cant hear this one, especially if I park next to someone running a diesel APU.
Down side is having to get off your butt and fill a couple of gas cans periodically, but gas is more abundant that diesel at some small gas stations, so no biggie to me. A friend of mine just drops his trailer when everything in empty and bobtails to a gas pump and fills the Honda and his gas cans. Lazy.....lol
Legally can carry 8 gallons of gas without issue, but I have yet to be asked about it.
Horses for courses, and I firmly believe that ANY idle reduction efforts are better than non.
Its mounted on industrial drawer slides, so it can slide out in @20 seconds.

Martin! You're trading her in? I'm gonna be the only one left on here with a Mercedes. Start another thread with details, please.

Will find out tomorrow about interest rate, but I would think it's a go mate.

Will update the thread when it's said and done, one way or the other.
And about the MBE....I still have LOTS of parts for the motor. EGR cooler, turbo, ECM, heads, and so on!
