    Hey there everybody! What's up?

For a little while now I've been thinking about becoming a trucker, but still I'm not exactly sure if I want to. One reason I want to become a trucker is that I heard truckers get a big salary and with that I can provide more money for my family because I currently work at walmart now and that doesn't make much money. The other reason is that the money I may make from trucking may help me get into a university to get a degree in animation. I see trucking as an alternative to help me with my major career plan. One other reason is that I like driving and I've been playing driving games for years so I feel trucking is a career I could really enjoy. So what I wanna know is: what's the average salary of a trucker and can I go to a college or university while being a trucker?

Hey Dronks...so as far as your salary question just google it. It varies from what I've learned but it looks like anywhere from $33,000-$40,000 your first year and it only goes up from there. Again, I'm not a trucker yet but I've been doing my research.

As far as school...I would say in no way can you be on the road 2-3 weeks at a time and still maintain pursuing a higher education. Besides...animation? They say you have to be a trucker to be a trucker not just be a trucker to make some money to go to school to get an animation degree to not doing anything with your degree because who hires animators then go right back into trucking once you've bottomed out. I got my degree in music but I'm more excited to live in the real world and take on the trucking industry head on. You sound young and aspirational...nothing wrong with that but you gotta keep it real.

Just my two cents...not trying to be a punk. Good luck!

New drivers do in fact usually start out around 30-40k a year,if you to go to college you better off trying for Grant money, driving truck and saving money for school doesn't work.. Good luck.
