Oh I will try that! this load I can get there in 3 hours probably, no appointment yet but planners said they were trying to get one for tomorrow. I just need to get out of this Fred Meyer place and get on the road, they told me another 30min or so. Already been here since 2pm and its 6:30 now

That is why I would never lease a truck at Swift... These planners don't give a ####.. It's bad enough trying to make money as a company solo driver i could imagine putting up with them leasing..

Yes. How can you commit to deliver on time when no time os set? Doh!
Often, it's the other way around, they will send an appointment time for 2 hrs before you could possibly be there.
Or set a 03:00 live unload.
Unless it's a load going home, I decline also: ' no deliver time scheduled '

    MikeCammer Thanks this.

I see those no appt time loads and usually deny them unless they are Walmart DC drops, "usually" those are reliable unless a drop number situation comes up which can slow it down a few hours (Walmart DC near ST George, UT is the only one I've had drop number issues at took a couple hours on a weekend drop, load came off LA rail yard in van trl) . Otherwise I put "incomplete load info" for no appt times.

I ended up not getting to where I wanted to be since I got too tired and pulled over 66 miles from the place, shot a message out saying I need my 10 plus the drive time when they make the appointment, lets see what they end up doing, my luck they will make it for like 5pm.
I ended up sitting at Fred Meyer for over 8 hours, they took extra time for something about a broken pallet that had to be redone, I just better get my detention pay, I stopped at the Troutdale terminal to drop my empty and I scanned all my loads and receipts in.

No not a broken pallet ... grocery DC. They have to count everything. If you have a single product load, piece of cake. But if it's a mixed product load they have to sort it out. If there is multiple product on a pallet, they "break" it down and separate it out it, count it and redo the pallets ... the sad unfortunate truth of this business, they do it on the drivers time and dime.

Totally understand what ypu are saying...

But of the driver is not allowed near the load and count or verify it. Why should he be held.

Especially if it's a preload drop and hook.

That does pose a problem not having enough exp. Many if the starter companies are like swift, sitting,no miles.Or a long load but too much window time. One of many downfalls with a mega starter company.

my loads are picking up some, just now im getting low on my 70 and just hope I make the current load im waiting to get loaded with. I guess if it comes down to the last few hours I will contact my DL to see if it can be pushed back or something. On my 8 days the last 3 are 0 hours so I wont be gaining anything for a bit, this load delivers on the 14th at 6am as of right now.

actually when I think about it I should gain a few hours on that day correct? today should be one of the days then Wednesday then Thursday? Pick up hours on Friday.
I suck at figuring this stuff out still so bear with me :p
