I haul airstream trailers. currently my flatbed is configured to have the rear trailer to have the lights plugged in. I get running brake and turn. my question is can i add to have the front 2 trailers plugged in for running lights? Only reason I am asking is because the tail lights would be on.

Got a question...
your flatbed trailer, it should have all the lights it needed to meet Federal DOT requirements installed from the manufacturer. I'm not understanding why you would have need to plug. If you are carrying airstream trailers on a flatbed, why would you have to plug in the lights on the airstream? The flatbed should be sufficient. Now, if you were just pulling the airstreams behind your rig, I would get that, but you said flatbed.379exhd Thanks this. -
I'm so confused by this question it ain't even funny. :smt017:smt017

you need to have tail, stop, and turn.
if your plug is what i'm thinking it is. it's simply a 2 prong plug. for lightbars on long loads. anything over 4 feet rear overhang needs to have a light bar at the end of the light. it's an added tail light for the long load. nothing more. and it's usually wired into the middle lights on the trailer. not the tail lights themselves. although the trailer i have. has 2 wires on each side of the trailer hanging out about 1 foot. and i'm guessing they are wired into the running lights on each side.
now, if you got one them 5 prong plugs or whatever they have. used for plugging in a secondary trailer you might pull behind your main trailer.
i don't think you'd be alowed to have just front running lights though. i'm pretty sure you got to have those red rear lights also. -
He carries 3 airstreams on a flat. He wants to use the lights of all 3 airstreams as running lights and the lights of the rear airstream as brakes, turns and markers. I can't see any legal reasons why he couldn't, but it's boggling my mind to figure out why he would.SHC Thanks this.

But there lies the problem...my bumper and fender guards have more lights than the 3 air streams will add to his truck and trailer. But alas I still need more when the mayor of las Vegas calls me and says "I'm jealous your truck is brighter than the strip" I'll have enough. Or I might possibly believe I have enough when a pilot says "tower why is that runway moving?"

Excatly right. I just didn't know if having the red tails on the two in the middle of the trailer was illegal. And its a 7 way flat that is hard wired in my trailer also have will have the constant 12v tied in to keep the battery's on the airstream's topped off.RAGE 18 Thanks this.
