i know that volvo have lot of influence and that they are trying to cut costs by sharing parts
but reality is that renault truck until now were not even close to level of competition , even on our fuel and winters they were not able to start during winter, or when you are driving you will see every renault with raised cab roadside , one guy from my forum say: on my routes to russia and syberia of 20trucks roadside 15are renault premium other 5 are magnum
they are very expensive to maintain
air drier for renault cost 2500€,even if you have it and change it you cant start truck without service , so towing or they have to come , since there is no services for renault here you are screwed .that part you change every winter that get in ( dont know english name) for normal trucks cost 15€ or less for renault 70 , because it is left screwed normal cant fit
driveshaft bearing cost 900€
when it is cold renault raise rpm at idle to 950 , till it fill air, fuel consumption is 16L/h at that mode, if you collect air more times per day it is significant cost, also there is quite a lot of difference in fuel economy between renault and other trucks
so even it is very cheap as new ( here below 60000€quality is lower but ok price is low to compensate this
during exploitation renault soon become more expensive , parts are unreasonable expensive and unavailable
sales number and resale value are best showing about product, here it is almost impossible to sell used renault ,
my friend recently tried to sell used renault e5 from 2011 with 145 000km it is 4x2 truck with platform body without trapoulin just sideboards, renault offered him 21600€, even better this is price old for new,otherwise they dont want to accept used truck because they wont be able to sell it to anybody
scania offered him 28800 if he buy 2 tractors r420TL e3 from 2006 each 40000 nobody else want even to hear about renault

My dad drove COE's and I rode with him during the summer months.. The first truck I ever drove, was a COE and I am definitely planning on buying one. I have plans to start a small fleet with COE's... they are coming back. I am just curious as to what you all think about the mechanical motors Vs's the electronic motors?

New COE trucks are rare in USA. Old COE trucks runs rought and noisy. My advice - visit Europe to ride European cabover to compare with old COE truck

I know of NO NEW COE in the US, and I have asked, unless of course you are talking an Argosy Glider, but that is a different animal.
IF a company would bring out a true NEW Class 8 COE, I would be there in a heartbeat, as my operation has a premium on deck space, or lack thereof, with a COE I could get a total deck space of around 69' that is a number that dwarfs our current 53' trailers. -
I agree. Not to sell COE in US is stupid like not to allow conventionals in Europe

Really I want COE too, The cheapest Cabover here is made in England ERF with ISM and manual tranny. I wanna purchase 6x2 ERF trucktor soon. People say ISM is gutless but 420 hp looks enough.

There's quiet a few argosy's here in Canada , not sure if they sell them here as a complete vehicle or a glider, united van lines have some with a cargo box behind the cab, they look impressive ! Mullens have a lovely grey one on oversize transport

You can order it as a glider, or a powered glider. Powered glider will come with bout any reman engine factory installed . Then add transmission and rears. Le them know what setup you want the mounts and bolt holes etc be there from the factory. This option gets you factory warranty on engine , ac , ps , etc.

Argosy U can see in Canada are trucks of last century, too old desigh. Rought and noysy. They are like Euro Combo trucks with tander dr.bar trailer.
Just look at Actros MP2 ore Volvo FH. It is not all, Paccar product - DAF is really product of Paccar - smooth and silent in cab.
EU cabovers got four air bag cab suspention, jutst imagine how smooth they run
