I'm a female, 28, and three kids. My husband has a CDL, not a driver works for PAM...and our friend also has a CDL works for JB hunt not as a driver. he looked for work in the driver industry and everyone needed 3+months experience, 3 deployments did not count.

i have looked at CR to do the training. I do not expect much pay, I'm not the breadwinner. I'm not doing lease to own, I figure i will be on a truck with a trainer who will make me uncomfortable for 6months of training making less than 300 a week.

i understand that i will shacked in a room with men and women at a godawful hotel during the licensing part (first 2.5 weeks) then maybe wait 5 days (not expecting to make any money the first 3 weeks) to be teamed with a trainer for my 30,000 miles with no home time. my children understand that i may be home 9 days in 9months. I'm giving it 12 months of utter sacrifice to get more than 6 months experience and apply locally to PAM, JB Hunt, Walmart, or Maveric. Again, I'm not looking for more than 400 a week and ok with no home time.

I'm looking for input from recent driver training graduates and long time otr drivers. thank u in advance.

Why CR England of all companies
They are located in salt lake........Hello there I 80 is their main route which means you better get to graduating fast really fast before the snow hits the ground next October or do you really wana slip & slide before you finish your first year?
Can you trust One eyed billy bob your so called trainer with 3-6 month's of experience under his belt buckle's while you are sleeping in the bunk while he is got the cruise on and the roads are icy?........Need i say more?
Find a carrier that runs mostly the southern route I 10 I 20 for your first year. if you know you are not going to make much money then you should take less risks
Your CDL Is your lively Hood work in safe environments or you will loose everything you worked so hard for
    Take Care

community college, i need a private loan...two divorces has wrecked my credit, I haven't found a CDL school who takes a grant.

thank you, any suggestions? like another company who offers driver training like CR England? i tried Swift, worst recruiters ever. i have applied to PAM but i notice this is a male friendly industry...the breadwinner who has stable work history, which i do not.

i understand the risk, i do not like it but am aware that i it is there. location is not an issue, if it gets to scary i will place a call to a friend and have a ticket bought to go back home. i am looking to start super soon like within a week, before my husband changes his mind. i will apply with local companies as soon as i receive my hard copy. giving cr a heads up a few days prior to my departure.

any suggestions for a better company? i have a summer with no kids, they are off for 8 weeks with family, so now is a great time. thank u.

Your willingness to sacrifice is admirable, but misguided. Every company has bad things about them. In fact, a trucking company is a lot like a marriage; you have to find the one that you can put up with, not the one everyone else can put up with. Even in saying this, C.R. England has the absolute worst reputation in the entire industry. Stevens, Swift, Prime, and correct me if I am wrong here other folks, but I think USA Truck, US Express and Knight also offer student training. Central Refrigerated might as well. Of those, Stevens, Prime and Knight would probably be who I looked at first. I implore you however to dig deeper and find somewhere else to go beyond England.

As far as not being the bread winner, if you haven't had a CDL at all, you will need at least three years of work history. If your husband supported the family, get a notarized letter stating why you were unemployed as you will most likely need it. I certainly hope you have the best of luck, and please take time in consideration of other possibilities.

Any trucking school you go to also that the company has will expect you to have a year commitment with them after you upgrade to 1st seat, this is after training. If you quit before then you will owe them money for the schooling.

Prime so far has been a lot better than CR England for my husband. He did have his cdl though. They do drive the lightbody trucks which are shorter than full sized trucks. They are governed, etc. Their school is in Springfield, MO.

If you have worked in the past three years any and filed taxes with a w-2, you will have to have a copy of the w-2 for I believe 2 or 3 yrs. Most forms want 10 yrs work history in the long run too.

d.vale, not knowing what area of the country your in. Makes it harder for us to help you with Good suggestions for companies. However, you will not be starting within the week anywhere, including CRE. So here are a couple webs sites that may have companies near you that will train to a "B" license and work you up to an "A".
They are nation wide search sites.
One searches by state and the second searches by town, within the state.
