You do know of course that it only takes about 3 seconds for a practiced shooter to reload a semi automatic weapon, right? What are you going to do, where are you going to go in 3 seconds? Limiting magazine capacity does not limit a shooters ability to hurt more people, it only means he/she has to carry more magazines.

What the uninformed media calls "assault weapons" are merely modern semi-automatic sporting rifles. They are popular because they are easy to shoot, easy to customize to the shooter and ammo is relatively cheap. (At least it used to be.) They are NOT military weapons, they only LOOK militarized. Saying that a modern AR-15, or any other sporting rifle, is an assault weapon is the same as dressing up a fat guy in camo clothing and claiming he is a green beret.

Lol...ALOT can bed done in 3 seconds my friend, i wouldnt "go" anywhere, but right for the idiot with the gun, some people would still be alive,I'm sure they wish they had those 3 seconds back, And the idiots that were behind the assault rifle were far from expert material,so you figure a few more seconds thrown in the mix. Throw in mentally disabilities, and you have another few seconds.

I'm sure we all want the shootings to stop and the very least try to limit them as much as we can,it's always going to be a provocative subject, but obviously something is wrong and something has to be done. Now the idiot in Baytown, I have no answer,bc I am not for disarming people, bc it also disarms the good people.I'm from a family that has always had guns but not assault weapons that shoot 100 rounds in mere seconds,I personally have never had a gun in my life. I would just like to see the bad and the mentally disabled kept from assault weapons. I listen to both sides and don't agree 100% with either side,so I'm in the middle of the road left with no answers myself, but hope someone smarter than I can come up with a solution. Just being honest.

And btw...I live in the big city and have had guns pulled on me,trust me when I tell you,all it took was 2 seconds for the perpetrator to be staring at the barrel of their OWN gun,so yes ALOT can happen in mere seconds that is NOT beneficial to the "bad guy"....
So you see,I'm not someone that wants to disarm America,I would just like to find the solution to "limit" the mass shootings,is all. And limiting the cartridges for these assault rifles just seems like a better answer as far as I can see.

I'm not looking for your agreement, just looking for a solution.

    Charli Girl,
There's no such thing as an Assault rifle. Colt, S&W, Remington, Winchester, whatever has no such model of firearm labeled as such. The term was started by politicians to gain control, to disarm us, period. The media seized on to this term and have been throwing it in the public's face constantly.

As far as limiting magazine capacity, the numbers they come up with are pure ridiculous. I've seen, and personally have friends that can reload a revolver faster than someone can reload a semi-auto pistol. They can put more lead down-range in the same time.

but how did this get started all I was saying was that we should be allowed to carry firearms in our trucks regardless of whether we are owners or drivers when you come to think about it there's a lot of money sitting in a 53 footer back there personally I don't keep a firearm in my truck right now but I'm trying to find out a way to do so legally..lol or maybe a secret James bond compartment

Again...I hear you,I hear them. I'm not choosing a team,I listen and watch and I am somewhere in between. However I stand by MY decision to look for solutions. I have a "horse in both races"
I just want a way to stop the crazies, I'm so sick of seeing the innocent become shooting targets every single day. I just hope someone comes up with a solution. Preaching to me the same old song and dance isn't going to solve anything,we just need new ideas to bring the crazies to their knees.

As far as carrying a firearm in a truck? Well I would never, but I also wouldn't mind a "normal" guy next to me having one when the crazies come lurking in the truck stops...So again,I'm not for disarming normal folks, but the heavy artillery with unlimited cartridges are up for discussion always.

you would never but you wouldn't mind a normal guy next to you when the crazies come to the truck stop. We just need new ideas to bring the crazies to their knees,a 9mm has those capabilities.really when it comes down to it we want to be protected but nobody wants to kill. I carry a firearm when I am with my family or what would appear to dangerous situationI would never want to have to kill somebody because no matter of how messed up a person they are they have family or somebody that will miss them if I put them 6 under, but its good to know if I need it its there.martial arts is other good way to go

This kills me. Once again, it becomes a subject of gun control instead of addressing the "mental" issue. Which is were the issue really is. Because the gun doesn't commit the crime. :biggrin_25512:

The mental issue is shaky as well, anyone can act normal even mental people. I'am a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, I cant get a concealed carry permit because I take medication for PTSD. Im no threat to society, in fact being trained in the special forces I think my training would make me an ideal candidate to carry. Im not saying they shouldnt examine people, I think its a good idea, but they need to be reasonable. I even had certified letters from both my VA docs stating I was not a threat, yet I still cant get a permit. I own fire arms including an "assault" rifl
