For those here that love tarping please explain how tarping in the rain outside with wet everything serves any purpose at all?
does it keep the moisture in? or just make sure the shipper gets the enjoyment of watching you get wet?
I see it like washing your truck with battery acid.

I'm sitting at the shipper while it's raining and nothing here is tarped, but my load information says 6' tarp.

Sometimes it's because of road grime and dirt.....but this has been covered already ;)

If it is raining and they load me outside in the rain and they want it tarped, they pay me to tarp then they get it tarped. I also make notation that "Product was wet and loaded in the rain". Some places dont mind snow on their stuff in the winter, but dont want that sodium chloride road spray on their product. We have regular backhauls out of Tennessee. November 1st to April 1st we tarp, April 1st to November 1st we dont.

    MJ1657 and AZS Thank this.

Also, there's the "if it looks good, it is good" thought process. If DOT only sees a good tarp job going through scales, all the better. It still irks me though.

Did we really need another thread complaing about tarping? Don't like to tarp in the rain, wind, snow, heat, cold? Don't take loads that tarp, if that still does not make you happy go swing doors.

Just tape the load and note on the the bill loaded in rain load wet as another poster said. I'll agree with Oscar if you don't wanna tarp in all weather either don't take tarp loads or go to swing doors. Getting wet wasn't a big deal to me when I ran a flat, I was more concerned about wind. But I did what I had to do trucking ain't for sissies remember that. Also remember when in 40mph winds if the wind catches the tarp LET GO!!! Or you may end up like Dorothy!

I knew you'd be along to offer me your wealth of knowledge. When I took the load it wasn't raining I'm not water resistant and don't like getting wet since my obamacare has taken effect yet. The funny thing is the more I don't want to tarp in extreme heat or rain the more accomadating these folks get.
Like offering me nice spots in the shade or extra money. I know that probably bothers you cause you like to be accomadating to people and I like being accomadated. I always seem to find these loads people fall of like with the "broke down trucK" story. I'd never taken this one as it's a navy load and I don't like them at all. But since it's on the truck now I guess I'll suffer through this 3.33 a mile. I know god loves me cause when I had done left the place and decided to go home without the load. Them people was really nice on the phone Oscar, you should be more disagreeable with people about tarping and see how nice they get. Then the sun came right on out on me till I got finished. The "I can go home attitude" seems to go farther than a I love kissing up one does. Oscar try it next time it's raining and you don't want to tarp. Tell the shipper you think you'll go to the house and see how nice they get? A total lack of concern works wonders on those who are used to people kissing up to them all the time. hi ho hi ho it's off to toad island I go.
