Well today I finished my week with my mentor. Next week starts the real fun. I have to work Monday and Tuesday, but my scheduled out day is Friday at 10. Works for me. This is a no pressure, easy going, smooth working job I have ever had! They could not make doing this job any easier than it already is. I now have laying before me a nice long road to retirement. Couldn't have dreamed how great this could be!:biggrin_2551::biggrin_25519:

So, you're working Monday and Tuesday, which means your days off are Wednesday and Thursday, what are they doing with you today (Saturday) and tomorrow? Motel or do you have to drive all the way home for two days, drive back for two days then back home again? They told me my day or would be Thursday at 8. But still waiting for the call for my orientation start date. How long did it take for your call after your physical/drug test?

When did you get your uniforms? Does the DC have a cafeteria and is it 24 hours? Just a few things I forgot to ask LOL. Well thanks for all your valuable info so far. Shouldn't be long now...

Yeah had to drive home yesterday which I am fine with. I was really tired. I am home this weekend and I only live 70 miles from my DC. It took about almost two weeks before they called me back and said everything was good. I am hoping that my uniforms will be in on Monday, that would be nice. We measured out for them the first day of orientation. My DC does have a cafeteria, not open 24 hours though. I know for a fact that Toby doesn't have enough people to staff theirs.

so do you just take a loaded trailer to a store then just grab an empty and come back to the DC?

Sometimes. Most of the time they will route me to another DC or to a vendor for pick up.

Cafeterias are operated by a contracted company not Walmart

70 miles from DC would be nice...I'm 267 miles from Tobyhanna but close enough and works for me. Like getting paid to take a roadtrip.

:biggrin_25519:Hey Drozzer & NYVET, I've enjoyed reading about your progress at Wallyworld , way-ta-go guys. I've been with 6070 DC in NC for 9 yrs. and on the 6/3 most of it. Just as a bit of advice or "heads-up"... you might encounter a wally driver or two at your DC (they all have one or two at least) with a not-so-positive outlook who may try to de-rail your good morale and be somewhat of a negative influence... don't let them steal your joy! The good FAR outweighs the bad here. Happy to have both of you onboard!

Why am I reading about other drivers having to choose between a transfer to another DC or losing their job.Is this a concern for a potential new hire?
