Why do some custom trucks have really long whatchmacallits?

    Not sure if this is just to look cool or if it actually serves a purpose, but sometimes I see O/O have trucks that have a 6+ foot gap between the catwalk and the drive tires. It looks like a long bar pushes the drive tires way back. Is this to look cool or does it make the ride smoother? I was really surprised when I saw one of these trucks back into a dock at a Louisville Kroger where a lot of drivers struggle to back in their regular truck due to the dropped trailers in front of the docks taking up the forward space.

    You mean long frame? It may look nice but I would never want to drive such a rig everyday.

    :lol::lol::lol:

    Yeah, it rides way smoother (which was a real bonus back in the day of spring suspensions), handles nicer, sucks up LOTS more fuel, is a 1st class pain in the butt to manhandle around tight streets/docks/etc., looks cool, and basically compensates for guys that were never never endowed with really long whatchamacallits. Hope that helps. :)

    i could see for the really long loads. but, unless you haul that crap exclusively.

    i think they're ugly. and i certainly wouldn't want to be driving around the country. cuz there's some U G L Y turns when making delivery.

    :thumbup:I swear ... if men had periods ... they'd brag about the size of their tampons. Yall really ought to try something constructive with your time.:thumbup: I write country music to pass the time of day ... working on a little ditty now called "If my nose were full of nickles, I'd blow it all on you" not to be confused with my previous rendition of "If I can't be number 1 in your life ... then number 2 on you":thumbup:
