You probably have not heard Oregon stopped selling permits at the ports last year. They made a big deal about it and had flyers all over the place to warn truckers to get ready for the change.

Are you a company driver for USA?
-
Yes, for 5 years.
-
Thats makes you about half right then.

my 1 year permit has a WHOLE LOT MORE NUMBERS then what you've got there, slick. and them numbers come up to a lot more then $8.
them trip permits were about $75 from idaho to washington on the 82. and good for the dates that were selected when purchased.
don't ask my why the company doesn't buy yearly on states that require that exctra ripping off.
i'm not sure how the permits are ordered. but you do have to know your route.
my trip permits were usuallly round trip. idaho to washington and back on the same route. -
You can probably just chance it and get by without one. I have never been stopped and asked to produce any permits in Oregon. New Mexico is the state that will get you. They check every truck number that goes through the scales for a match In their database.

First of all you are a company driver, comparing apples and oranges. Second, this is a tax account receipt for the calendar year. It is not a trip permit as it clearly states in the fine print. All this is, is a receipt showing USA added you to their account for $8. USA then pays the taxes for each trip you make into Oregon which is where the big money comes in. Us independent guys who only go to Oregon a few times a year do not want a tax account because you have to file a tax return with Oregon quarterly whether you ran in Oregon or not, and it is a pain in the arse to keep up with. Same with New Mexico and Kentucky. I just buy a trip permit, charge the broker for it, and write it off on my taxes as an expense.

Not only do you have to file quarterly (even for quarters with no miles in Oregon), you have to post a $2500 bond with the state. I've got better things to do with $2500.
