Until rates trend to 12,000 + Cali to Toronto, I will keep my old truck that makes good money not going to Cali. I am doing well enough without the added headaches of that state.

I'm with landstar and I've seen rates in California go up. Loads that go to Texas used get taken around 2.2 to 2.5 a mile now they just sit on the board till the price goes up or one of the agents regular drivers show up. I think it always depends on the week. If u get empty on a Wednesday or Thursday I would just wait because there are always desperate shippers/agents who bump the price up considerable from the original price.

what's the lower 49? cuz i only count lower 47.

alaska is on top of the world. hawaii is on the other side of the world. and i don't think any of us are driving to puerto rico. -
Maybe because Texas is so big he counts it twice.

Chatting with broker who came to watch me get unloaded at jobsite. He says he's getting quotes for $10K from KKKalipornya to Boston on produce. This is what trucks are telling him they'll do the loads for.
You into produce now, Adam? -
did watermelons last year but didn't have a customer who needed them this year.

I did a produce load from nogales,az going to Pittsburgh,Pa for 7k. Rather go to nogales,az then california. Pays the same and you dont have to deal with California's laws!

We invade Mexico next week. Then we'll have 49 states.

Best times to get rates up in Calif are the last 10 days of the month and from Weds. afternoon through Friday noon. Other than that I've actually seen them come down the last month or so now.....Vegas too......I only do dry van so can't speak for reefer or platform work.LSAgentOZR Thanks this.
