Funny thing is I was thinking the same thing yesterday when I was tarping in East St. Louis. It was only 86 but I hate the heat.
I'm not whining about tarping in the least as its part of the job in my opinion.
I wouldn't like sitting on a lawn chair with my feet up in that temp.
In the rain.

The sole purpose of tarps on a packaged load is to protect the packaging from being damaged by the elements.
Tarps on a bare load protect the product from said elements. Like keeping road salt off steel, dust and rocks of glass etc.
Just tarp your load already and quit whining or go be a door slammer.MJ1657 and DrtyDiesel Thank this. -
SHC Thanks this.

Yer but you still have to work in the rain you just don't have to tarp. It's only water all part of the job

The typical bootlicker's always have the same response. But what kind of fool would stand in the pouring rain and cover a load?
Now I already know "mr. detonated akmmed" would. But who with resonable intelligence is going to stand in the rain to do this?
Wouldn't the rain pouring negate the usefulness of covering? I guess it's the fear of what may happen if they don't?
What happens when you say NO I'm not doing it? What happens they find you a dry place or don't get it 99% of the time.
I never seen so many sacless men nowdays.
I was talking with a ls driver other day and he had to tell me he made 200,000 last year(which I think was slightly inflated) I then asked after ls gets their cut and fuel, taxes, repairs, and all the other things to be taken before his numbers at the bottom maybe 50-60 g's or less.
So I had to ask:" was this all you got for the bootlicking you done?" I made 10-12 less paid less than 1100 in taxes and never lick boots.
I also qualify for free insurance that our glorious leader will arrange next year for me. All the while your probablly spedning what extra you made more than me to maintan the same lifestyle I live. This guy was really pissed all he could say was: I don't like what your saying go away" The truth really hurts butt kissers make less in the end and have a nasty taste in their mouth. -
Not sure what the last half of your post has to do with the topic of the thread, but........talk about a disconnect.

I've never considered doing the job I accepted and agreed to do as bootlicking. I'm sorry I just don't follow your thought process.
Back to the subject.
Again, the tarp's purpose is not to keep things dry, it is to protect the packaging and to keep road debris off the product. -

I respect the heck out of FBers I see tarping in conditions I hate having to just open and close doors in...I always hope they're getting the pay and respect for their efforts...I've done some FBing but always in good conditions luckily, it's just not my cup of tea, mostly for the time spent at shippers/receivers, I like quick in and outs(in regard to trucking), I'm hyper and found a company that accomodates that, but then that's why there's vans, FBs, reefers and tankers, something for everyone!

I pull a rolltarp and was once at a shipper picking up a NO TARP load of lumber, it started to rain when someone came out and ask me to please do my best in keeping the load dry because it's prime number one lumber. I think my Carrier might have stolen my tarp pay.
