You really seem to like to put people down. There's a lot of good talk and very little bickering and knocking each other down in the flatbed section. It would be nice to keep it that way.

 

Now you're going after me.
Let's see who else you can jump on.

 

Look, tarping in a downpour or hard wind or in mid-day heat may be reason to delay the task until conditions improve. Or as I'm doing tomorrow morning, I'll get up earlier than normal to untarp while it's still cool ( relatively, this is Dallas in June) to make life a little easier on me.


If tarping a load will endanger your life or destroy the tarps due to it's shape or many sharp edges then you need to talk about that with whoever you get your work from. I've been in that position and reasonable people understood what I explained and the load was not tarped.

I understand that there is a shortage of reasonable and mature people in this line of work, but I don't understand this "struggle against the man" mentality. If flat decking doesn't suit your taste go do something else. Or humble yourself and learn to do it well.

 

I have to add that, in my experience, there is a unique "brotherhood" or kinship or mutual respect within the flat deck sector of this industry that I have not experienced while pulling boxes. It's not very often that a fellow decker will sit in his cab watching another guy struggle with tarps in the wind or not help finish folding them or whatever needs doing or be willing to teach someone how best to secure a load. But if you take the attitude that doing this job properly is bootlicking, I can't help you.
